or shoes that said dog just has to rip apart.
Are there any left?
Was that ice fishing?
Ice is gone here now, its spawning season so the fish come in near the shore in large schools. There was about 50 boats out there, everyone getting just as much. Ive a buddy who was there today too, they got 97.
The great lakes are an unbelievably prolific fishery. There are so many boats that pull out crazy amounts of fish, and it still doesnt stop.
The govt monitors fish levels and if the population isnt sustainable, they limit the amount you can take. In lake simcoe, a very prolific lake north of toronto, its heavily fished year around. For years they banned fishing for herring but the population is recovering and i think you can catch 2 now.
Theres also season restrictions. Fish are spawning now so most species.are closed, i.e. Bass, no fishing til the third week of june. And in many places where the bass spawn the govt bans fishing entirely until season opens. Iirc bass actually stay near their eggs and protect them until they hatch so the protected spawning grounds are important.
With perch however, its 50 a day, and open year around. And i still cant keep enough in the freezer.
Currently chatting with a reporter from state-sponsored media CBC about my activities taking students fishing. I’m probably gonna be famous.
Another year without cavities!
15 months ago I told my son to buy a newer car because I was tired of dealing with our beater Honda. Although it had a number of faults, it did have an annoying habit of still running fine.
Two or three years ago a 40-something year old guy named Mark shows up at our bridge club. He had just finished almost a decade in prison for some white-collar crime. He was on probation or parole and lived with his mom and had to rely on her to get around. Eventually he was able to find work (not easy for a felon)
So I call him and ask him if he would like a car, and he says YES. I met him over at the bridge center and explained everything he needed to know. And he was incredibly grateful.
Today I stopped by to pick up something and he was eager to greet me - Due to work I’m not usually there on Mondays and he’s not usually there on Saturdays. He told me he was able to buy a 7-yr old Subaru and he gave the beater to another convict and told that guy that he should pass it on if he ever outgrew it.

My husband took the kids to an indoor ropes and obstacle course kind of place, they’ve been gone for 3+ hours and I’ve had the house to myself. It’s loverly.
Went to casino night fundraiser, played craps most of the evening. Started w/ 2k, played pass and behind the line almost all night. Up and down, w a 2k rebuy using extra drink tickets. I was a horrible shooter, 1 pass all night. Made up for it by hitting a 30-1 on a 12 on first time side bet. Next throw, decided to change to snake eyes. And hit that one too. Late in the night i scaled bets up as stack got larger. Hit another side bet on 15-1, but this time with 1500 on the line. Did more side bets as time was getting short, ended up 41,500. Fundraiser let you assign your casino dollars to the program of your choice, (fund pool divided up by proportion of dollars allocated) so it was of no real consequence to me. I could never bet like that with real money.
my temple ran an annual casino night, but gambling when it isn’t real tended to bore me, so i ran the cash box, which i enjoyed
Got to sleep in and enjoy my spouse before picking up the kid this morning.
I won $20 on a lottery ticket, which I promptly took to the good English bakery. The haul included 1 apple strudel, 2 raspberrry cheesecake tarts, and 2 sinfully delicious, soft, chocolatey, fudgy, oh so good, non-crunchy-edged brownies!!! ![]()
There was $4 leftover, which I threw into the tip jar. It’s good to play with house money!!!
I found a wallet today on the ground of a parking garage. The woman on the ID lived 25 minutes from me, I googled to see if I could find a cell, but didn’t find anything. She and her husband lit up like Christmas morning when I dropped it off. It feels good to make someone’s day.
There wasn’t any cash in the wallet, but there was a visa gift card and some other cards, so I hope no one else got to it first. Still, not having to replace a license is a relief.
I ordered a bunch of Roman shades off Amazon a few days ago. I had bought one last year for our bathroom, and my office/sewing room, which has 10 small windows on all three outward facing sides, also needs to have the shades replaced, and I was pleased with the bathroom one.
The seller reached out to say that these were a different color than the ones I ordered last year, and wanted to double check that I had ordered as intended. That was above and beyond, especially for an Amazon purchase!
