Happy Thoughts

I was going to say I don’t think “confirmed by CBS News” cuts it as confirmation anymore, but a 2022 confirmation still passes.

Probably going to have to add CNN to that list fairly soon.

This is preciely how you deal with bullies and threats.

Stand your ground. Lead by example.

Serena just gave me some work. It’s work that I am very good at, and that I absolutely love doing - and almost never get to do anymore.

Gonna go make a coffee, sit down at my desk looking out the window at the back yard, and get some work done :).

I hired an analyst last February, and she is a freaking rock star. I twisted as many arms as I could to get her a promotion, normally we don’t do that after just one year for… some reason. I got the promotion approved today and I’m so happy for her, she earned this one!

Woke up with a 75 year old woman in my bed this morning as my wife turned 75 today. So blessed to have a wife who is as youthful in spirit and beautiful as when I met her over 55 years ago.

My daughter works for Factor and occasionally brings home a meal or two for me and she has a knack for knowing what I’ll want. Today she brought Chicken Poutine.

We need some work done on our back deck so have been contacting tradespersons. A young guy with a heavy Eastern European accent named Alexei(?) took a look at the deck this afternoon. We liked the guy but figured he was Russian and we are reluctant to hire Russians since the invasion of Ukraine.

However, when we got his quote, his name turned out to be Oleksii which is the Ukrainian equivalent of Alexei. He was a nice chap with three small kids trying to create a new life in Canada so we feel good about engaging him.

Just saying, even if he was russian, he wasn’t russian. He would’ve been canadian.

THis is the logic my buddy’s mom has where she won’t go to the only dentist in the area, because she’s ukranian and the dentist is russian. Geez, she’s about as ukranian as I am british, which is not really at all. And likley the dentist similiarly.

You raise a fair point as I should not judge any Canadian solely by his/her country of origin. I just sense though that Ukrainians and Iranians are fleeing war or oppression in their home country but the Russian-Canadians may be more likely to be supportive of Putin’s regime.

I think some of my wife’s anti-Russian sentiment may have rubbed off on me as the Russians treated her Jewish ancestors badly. However, by that logic, I should hate Americans for confiscating my Loyalist ancestors’ properties and booting them out of the US after the American Revolution. However I don’t harbour old grudges. My only beef with America is with the Trump Administration and its supporters.

Well there seems to be some generational anger there. I have a friend whose parents where from poland and they’re very heated about putin.

You best believe there is a lot of generational anger there.

A couple of new relations on Ancestry have mentioned family being packed on trains for Siberia.

yeah fair enough. my buddy’s dad had the tattoos, so that’s not going to be forgotten ever.

Unverifiable, perhaps not true, but a Happy Thought

Clearly no way to verify

Something like that happened to my wife. She was driving through nowhere AR very late at night and got pulled over by a cop for no reason she could determine, which made her extremely uneasy about the situation. The cop asked her to get out of the car, so she got out of the car with her dog, which was a doberman mix, but looked very doberman in bad light. The dog was a complete idiot, didn’t follow instructions well, and did stupid stuff that almost killed it several times over. But when they got out of the car, the dog for the one time in its life listened, sat at attention right at her side, and didn’t move. The cop just got back in his car and drove off.
