We may get our first snow of the season tomorrow but it will be mixed with rain. Off to the interior on Tuesday for our family ski holiday. THAT will be powder snow which I can enjoy in only limited amounts this year because still recovering from pneumonia.
I got in the car today and the AC started blowing. Lol. February.
Cleaned out more in the garage today, I still need to get rid of like 12% of what’s out there but it’s not bad. Made $150 selling some of it, gave a lot away.
And I happened to notice the snow scraper on my snowblower was more worn than I thought, I took that off and ordered a new one.
I spent a few hours on my garage as well. I replaced the second of the two garage door openers yesterday, and still had both of the drive rails. They were bit over 8ft, solid steel T rails, and had some holes predrilled on either end. I bolted them on to my hanging 4x8 garage racks to create a second tier shelf, along with some 2x4 as crossmembers and some particle board I had left from a long ago project. Perfect spot to throw some of my lumber scraps, although its pretty high up there now.
A baker friend had a lot of stuff left over from a VD event. We got a $20 mystery bag from her that had a boatload of stuff in it!! Next time we order from her, I’m gonna give her at least an extra $20.

I got it, bake items, let mold grow, penicillin, cure VD
I was wondering who would catch… the reference.
A $20 mystery bag for VD…
One of my original fishing with nerds students has now graduated, gotten married, and has a son.
They were just in India for a couple of months, and brought me back a gift - a bottle of perfume/scented oil. Pretty nice of them to think of me and do that.
The jury is out on the scent. One of the other indian students this weekend said it smells like a clothing store. My spouse otoh, liked it and said it smells like I just got out of the shower after using some expensive soaps.
Yeah, $20. Same as in town.
:rimshot:
geez, man, I can get mine for free from Tiffany down the block.
I went to Ikea today so that was nice. My brother lives nearby so I texted him and we got together for lunch. So that was really nice, we don’t see each other often enough.
person I have been interacting with recently thanked me for some help by making me arepas. had never tried, but really liked.
i was happy to help them do something they really missed doing.
one of my original fishing with nerds students, one of the smartest people I’ve met, graduated and working, just invited me on a camping trip this summer. told me I’m just getting in the vehicle and relaxing, he’s doing all the organization this time.
Heck yeah. Looking forward to it
Banner day for my after-tax cash flow: I won $20 on LottoMax and my car replacement plates were FREEEEEEEEE!!! ![]()
Just got the invite to mark the Euclid exam again at the University of Waterloo. That’s the math exam that they administer. I forget how many 10’s of thousands of students write the exam, but it’s international, pretty much every continent.
It’s a blast to see the papers from all over. And it’s a lot of fun being surrounded by so many uber smart people doing the marking. I’m kinda like the village idiot there, but that’s OK.
They also have a ‘math minute’ every time. They bring some prof in for a 1/2 hour who does some absolutley cool math demonstration. I always love going to those even if they’re beyond my comprehension lol.
Anyway, that made the day a lot more pleasant, looking forward to that.
Good for you.
How many years has the Euclid exam been around? I wrote it (or its Waterloo predecessor) almost 60 years ago so it is a survivor!
I dunno but they always have this big show on how long some people have been marking and there’s one old dude who’s been doing it 50+ years.
I wrote it in the 80’s as well. I’m confident that my results were the only reason I got an offer to go to UWaterloo. I had a <80% average in high school, but I nailed the Euclid. Though the 80% might be misleading because I had the 3rd highest mark in my graduating class. Me, then second was my best friend, and then highest was always Mary Jo. Damn you Mary jo, nobody could ever beat her marks.
On the first night of marking they take everyone to a local steak house for supper. Which is the same place (and the same room) where we held our wedding reception. And the menu is still identical as well lol. Like nothing has changed, not the decor, the food, nothing.
