Gun Violence in America

My BiL just got into archery.

It will complement his armor and great sword.

I don’t know what SCA means.

Regardless; I’m not sure I agree that shooting a gun at a target is ā€œpractice killingā€ but shooting a bow & arrow at the same target is not.

Where do you rank the BB guns that I shot at Girl Scout camp when I was a little kid. Is that practice killing too?

Sure. Though in that case, you aren’t literally playing with a tool used for real life killing. So that’s good.

I would also recommend video games, paintball, laser tag, etc. A huge amount of fun to be had in practice killing.

Annnnyway. The point is you can make a car safer, and it still functions as a car. You can’t really make a gun safer, unless you replace it with a BB gun. The point of a gun is to kill, and a better gun is one that kills more.

You could use a fingerprint trigger lock to make the gun safer without impacting it’s intended use

Unless the person whose fingerprint unlocks it decides to use it to kill someone. Then it’s just as good at completing its purpose in being invented.

Make sure there are no koalas in the vicinity.

You realize the original Olympics were war games, where each city state showed off the military reasons of their citizens without actually killing anyone, right?

Ask Meph_sidekick. He has a few guns that he is legitimately afraid to fire.
Oh, you mean safer to others, not the shooter. Got it.

The comments of emergency medicine doctors in other countries never seeing a gunshot wound was surprising.

I’m not sure why that’s relevant, but ok. I still don’t consider any of the activities listed, including shooting a gun at a paper target or clay pigeon ā€œpractice killingā€.

We may have to agree to disagree.

Three Tennessee state D’s led an anti-gun protest on the state house floor. Looks like they’re going to be kicked out of the legislature.

How do vacancies get filled?

Probably hand picked by the fascist regime.

Protesting is not allowed in Tennessee? TIL.

Wait, let me guess: they were unarmed, and that’s against the law?

I think using a bull horn from the floor of the state House, egging on protesters in the gallery, while the House was in session might have been over the line.

That being said, the expulsion resolution and some of the comments made when introducing the resolution refer to ā€œfelonious conductā€ and ā€œbatteryā€ (as in ā€œassault and batteryā€). That feels like an exaggeration to me…but the Fox News viewer cult seems to think claims of January 6 being an insurrection is an exaggeration, so… :person_shrugging:

Apologies if this was posted elsewhere, I didn’t see it.

Now see there is someone who should be expelled from the legislature.

He’s not a Dem POC, so he’s probably safe.

The current crop of Republicans in the Tennessee state legislature seem particularly rabid, and they are not at all shy about gerrymandering themselves power in excess of what voter preferences would imply.

I think you misspelled Fascist.

I’ll stick with ā€œrabidā€. ā€œFascistā€ theoretically has a specific meaning that doesn’t necessarily apply here, and ā€œfascistā€ suffers from overuse in ways that deviate from that meaning.

I don’t think Tennessee Republicans (or Republicans in general) are really promoting ā€œstate over individualā€ (although it’s sometimes hard to see that given the extent to which they promote their Party over others).

The problem of their rabidness is their promotion of the idea that individuals should subscribe to a specific set of values, some of which I find reprehensible. But among the values they promote (or at least pay lip-service to) is ā€œindividual before stateā€, which is a rather non-Fascist philosophy.
