I actually had that experience this morning. As I woke up and turned off the alarm on my phone, that message came in.
(Someone wasn’t aware that I’m in the US, whereas the rest of the team is in Europe and India.)
It happened to me last week. There was a meeting with the CEO. I was aware a meeting was taking place and they wanted me on it, but nobody invited me. And I’m busy so I kinda forgot about it.
I’m in another meeting, my boss messaged me asking why I’m not on the call. I panic, look at my calendar. No, that isn’t on my calendar, if you want me on this I’ll need the invite. Turned out ok.
Yeah. The “Well, if you don’t invite me, I’m not likely to show up.” defense is pretty hard to refute.
