You sound like my grandmother and her rules about opening the refrigerator!
You’re probably still using too many squares of toilet paper per visit.
If I’m making dinner, I do try to open the fridge once, get all of the ingredients I need, then close the door. Not so much ‘letting all the cold air out,’ and more ‘It’s less work to open it once, than to open it once for every ingredient I need.’
I’m the opposite. Planning out which ingredients I need, finding space for them on the counter, getting them all out, then picking them up individually off the counter and putting them back down on the counter and then finally putting them all back in the fridge is way more work than simply getting what I need when I need it and putting it back as soon as I’m done with it. Plus the food warms up a little on the counter which probably counters a lot of the extra cold air I’m letting out anyway so it’s probably not much extra electricity my way anyway.
We’re probably going to have to agree to disagree on this one, lol. I suspect it varies depending on kitchen layout and what you’re cooking. And, as you note, how much counter space you have.
I have about 8’ of prep space in my normal spot, so if I’m chopping a bunch of veg, I just drag it all out and go to town. Many people probably do not have the luxury of that kind of prep space.
Anywho, I think we’ve successfully derailed the ‘funny and SFW’ thread with fridge and dishwasher talk!!!
All right that does make some sense.
I don’t mind emptying the dishwasher, except for that one mug that still has water on top so I have to wipe dry…

Nice humblebrag about having a powerful enough dishwasher to where this “rare exception” isn’t the norm.
I hate that, especially if I don’t see it and manage to throw water all over. I like the mugs that have indentions in the bottom to prevent this but many of our mugs/cups don’t have it. C’est la vie.
Step 1: Open clean dishwasher
Step 2: Drain excess water from dishes as needed
Step 3: wait until they are dry
Step 4: put away
It’s best if you get to Steps 1 & 2 while the dishes are still warm, but that just affects the duration of 3.
Post pandemic ain’t nobody got time to wait for dishes to dry
Yeah, I’m starting to unload at 10:00, and the next load is going hot at 10:10.
TWHS
Put it on the drying rack with the baby bottles.
