The clincher was [Ireland’s Value-Added Tax Act of 1972] strict provision that the amount of sugar in bread “shall not exceed 2% of the weight of flour included in the dough”.
The article didn’t say that they can’t “call” it bread…just that it gets taxed as if it weren’t bread…but maybe that detail is to be found elsewhere.
I might have posted this or similar before, but the link to it this time referred to National Puppy Day, and I certainly haven’t posted it since this year’s NPD.
