Bump - anyone got 2 more hours of live webinars?

Are you looking for live webinars because you need organized activity?

The AAA is supposed to have a webinar over the qualifications standards in the next couple of weeks. I think those are usually 90 minutes and free.

Looks like it will be 12/20.

For the Academy webcasts, when they’re not free, they’re usually only $50 or some relatively low fee.

The upcoming webcast registration page will be here:

They’ve not updated it yet

Not free, but in case you need those professionalism credits, the Academy has yet another professionalism session, but on December 17:

More Tales From the Dark Side

Professionalism Webinar
More Tales From the Dark Side
Dec. 17, 2021 | Noon to 1:30 p.m. EST | USQS CE and JBEA CPE Eligible

Register

REGISTRATION FEES:

Eligible Academy volunteers and government regulators are invited to attend free of charge. If you are an Academy volunteer, you are eligible if you are a member of an Academy committee (including boards, committees, subcommittees, work groups, task forces, etc.) and also are qualified for either a partial or total dues waiver during 2021. Contact Doreen Hoyle at Profwebcast@actuary.org to register.

ABOUT THIS WEBINAR

Back by popular demand, Tales From the Dark Side will explore examples of ethical problems based on cases and requests for guidance that have been brought before the Actuarial Board for Counseling and Discipline (ABCD).

In the course of performing their work, actuaries may be confronted with ethical issues that are difficult to resolve. Inspired by their experiences on the ABCD, our presenters—all of whom are ABCD members—will discuss the professionalism aspects that actuaries should consider to stay on the right side of the Code of Professional Conduct. They also will also discuss some of the guidance provided through the ABCD’s request for guidance process. Join us for this professionalism webinar and learn how to avoid the dark side.

We believe in good faith that attendees will have the opportunity to earn up to 1.8 continuing education (CE) credits and 1.8 core ethics continuing professional education (CPE) credits under Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries rules.

And this one isn’t free, either:

ABOUT THIS WEBINAR

The Academy released the amended Qualification Standards for Actuaries Issuing Statements of Actuarial Opinion in the United States (U.S. Qualification Standards, or USQS) on November 30. If you volunteer for the Academy you can get most of these free.

Fine, but most of us aren’t eligible Academy volunteers or govt employees.

I realize most people aren’t. Just throwing that out there for those searching for free.

I just realized what the definition of “eligible” is in this context. I guess very few people would qualify who are actively looking for CPD.

You have to be eligible for a dues waiver. I just figured they were being “kind” to their volunteers. I work in a governmental role so don’t have to think about these things.

I talk about ASOP 23… hey, you might get some CE from it. It’s definitely free.

Does the Academy still provide “free” access to recordings of professionalism webinars to its members?

I realize that doesn’t help anyone who is looking for free “organized” CE, but it could be useful for getting the needed professionalism hours. (One could also just spend some time refreshing on the Code or ASOPs, which are freely available.)

I think the answer is yes to most of their webinars.

Yes.

Professionalism Webinars | American Academy of Actuaries

Professionalism Webinar Recordings Available to Members

A valuable benefit of Academy membership is free and unlimited access to the Council on Professionalism’s entire—and growing—library of professionalism webinars, which date back to September 2007. Academy members can earn continuing education (CE) credits by listening to these pre-recorded webinars. These credits can be counted toward the annual required three hours of continuing education on professionalism topics, as detailed in the U.S. Qualification Standards (Section 2.2). Professionalism credits under the U.S. Qualification Standards are not required to be from “organized activities”; so while listening to recorded webinars will not count as an organized activity it still will satisfy the professionalism requirement.
