Would have had a better chance had I played before, since I didn’t fully understand how it worked. I hadn’t known that the letter that moved to the center after guess 1 was guaranteed to be the letter in all 5 (in part because didn’t know the diagram would always be 3 by 3. Perhaps I should have guessed it). With that guarantee, I might have spent more time trying to figure out more than the next group to try.
No, yesterday’s “complaint” was not valid It was coincidence that the letter which moved to the center after guess 1 was the letter in all 5. Today, the center letter shifted after guess 2. Fortunately for my chances, it was clear after guess 1 what another grouping must be, and the letter in common was not yet in the center.

Do the colors mean difficulty? And are there any points for any specific order? I think I got some bonus today for “12 click minimum”. Does that mean you lose points for clicking something even if you don’t submit it?
If I knew all the answers, they’d likely change soon. Hank Green’s said he likes having multiple win scenarios instead of one pass/fail, and he’s experimenting with “rewards”/points for different things. I think it was on 4x3 that I got a point bonus for keeping a streak. On Smush I got a bonus for beating the average score, which seems like an interestingly self-defeating mechanic throughout the day?..
Purple is usually a word association/linguistic kind of thing and I think is usually considered the hardest to get in Connections.
To whatever degree the colors mean things in Connections, I think there’s a loose correlation here. But I never really looked into it.
Do you know Hank Green IRL?
Nope - he just puts out videos frequently, along with his brother, author John Green. Hank Green is a “science entertainer” type and puts out a lot of good, nonprofit work.
Together they run good.store, where I get all my coffee and some tea, and all the profits go toward charity e.g. maternal healthcare in Sierra Leone or tuberculosis treatment and prevention.
I like them both. I’m reading John Green’s Looking for Alaska right now. I get why conservatives banned it, lol, but Everything is Tuberculosis was better IMO.

Got 30 points for solving in under 90 seconds. I didn’t realize that was a significant factor. and I don’t think much of the purple rationale, or the blue rationale for that matter. I did connect the blue to fruits but assumed it was some hybrid or marketing name, not a misspelling.
