The governor of my state ordered a curfew of 10pm until mid December, but then the conservative state legislature passed a law saying that the governor can’t order any more restrictions or shut downs lol.. So I think I’ll be okay.
Edit: Actually I just looked it up and our governor vetoed that bill, so we’ll see. I’m interested to see what the CAS’s announcement about all of this will be this week.
Reminder: candidates shouldn’t discuss the contents of the exam. Further, there may still be some people who have not yet sat for this exam, and answers to this question could give them inappropriate information.
I am sorry, but I don’t see how the question violates that. Maybe I misformulated the question? (My mother language is not English) I was referring to the general syllabus of the exam, not the actual one. Is that prohibited as well? The “In addition, prior to taking their exam, all candidates will be required to commit to a statement that clearly outlines the expectation that candidates will not disclose anything about the exam questions, content, or difficulty until the testing period is over.” is very subjective and I understand that it is referring to the current Fall 2020 exam that is being administered.
Given that the material on the syllabus, especially for Exams 6-9, will change frequently, any such questions about material will generally be viewed as referring the current sitting. Especially in a thread titles for the current sitting.
If you want insight for the 2021 sitting, then post such questions in a thread on that particular topic. Just note that those who have sat for the current Exam are asked to NOT respond until after the current testing window for that particular Exam.
This was my issue. I feel that a question asking “what topics gave you the most trouble” related to the current exam sitting (that is the title of this thread) is soliciting information from people who have taken the exam as to which parts of the syllabus were covered by hard questions. That’s not permitted.
As most candidates have already sat, and we have asked candidates who already sat to refrain from discussing the syllabus until the testing window has ended, there are very few people who are still studying for this current exam who can answer "what parts of the syllabus am I struggling to learn.
If you are preparing for next spring’s exam, you should post that question in a thread about the spring 2021 exam. You can start one if it doesn’t exist.
This is a new world, and we are all trying to work out what’s appropriate.
No worries. Some of the innocuous statements that one doesn’t think “matter” (but actually do) aren’t all that obvious at first glance until you’ve been in situations where an adversary will use exactly what you said but apply an alternate (and actually valid) interpretation.
We moderators are not any different in other contexts with how to interpret a written statement when non-verbal cues are absent.
So we see these situations as good learnings for all.
I’m hoping it will be closer to Jan 15th than Feb 15th. I didn’t hear anything. I did see somewhere that they did start grading even though people are still testing till the 31st.
