Right, so the change in required capital is 20 here. I wasn’t sure if you first look to the most conservative capital measure, then calculate the change specifically within that measure. That doesn’t make any practical sense in hindsight, so after seeing your example it’s clearer to me. Thanks.
the testing window starts tomorrow. looks like this exam is really happening
Yeah, finally. Hard to believe it’s finally here.
Good luck to those sitting tomorrow!
Anyone else sitting tomorrow other than me? I kind of wish we all got to sit the same day for the comradery.
You’ll just have to fail so that you can get your wish next sitting when the test is on one day /s
No thanks lol. I’m ready to be done with the study life.
Good luck all. I am sitting on Monday
I’m also sitting tomorrow. Let’s hope operational risk doesn’t manifest itself tomorrow at Pearson.
I’m more worried about strategic risk from the exam committee, personally
I have to say that I was overall disappointed with CF as I’ve gone through material on my first sitting. I found much of the material lacking context that even the paper is willing to give, and just lazy bullets. The section on real options from Goldfarb kind of encapsulates this.
And while admittedly he had more to change, it was disappointing that RF was able to convert the problem pack to Excel but CF didn’t get to converting any material besides PEs for this round.
Did you get just the manual, or the videos as well? I agree the manual can lack context at times, but for the most part he provides context in his seminar videos.
I will agree with you that one of the most annoying things was working his practice problems in Excel, but checking the solutions against the manual was annoying at times because he rounds to 3 decimals at every step. It looks like he will have to fix that moving forward, now that everything is CBT.
Hi SkolChicago,
Believe it or not, I just finished reviewing the CBT versions of all my original practice problems this morning. I posted them to the online courses this evening. I wish I could have posted them sooner so that they were more useful for the Fall 2020 sitting but I simply didn’t have the bandwidth and had not planned for the unexpected change from the CAS.
Sorry again and good luck!
Michael
scheduled exam just got cancelled and delayed to Jan.5.2021
received an email from CAS that I’m authorized to take the exam between 12/19-12/31
logged in Pearson VUE and see some spots available between 12/19-12/30
Is anyone actually going to take the exam between 12/19-12/31???
If the alternative is to not sit at all, I’d gladly take the exam on Christmas day.
Interesting, I’m hearing multiple cancellations today as well.
Have you heard about any outside of Canada?
Yes, on both sides of the border. One happens to be my test site where I took a few days back.
Oh wow, but your second exam isn’t cancelled yet?
Not yet but… lol
Fingers crossed
