Erivo as JC in JCSS

I’m just here for the outrage.

My major reason for not going was the outrage-… … … -ous ticket prices. Seeing Devo and B52’s at the Hollywood Bowl next month, though.

Mostly, can’t wait to see the filmed version of this, if the producers were smart enough to record it

Erivo laughed off the uproar in a recent interview with Billboard, telling the magazine, “You can’t please everyone.”

“It is legitimately a three-day performance at the Hollywood Bowl where I get to sing my face off,” she said. “So, hopefully [critics] will come and realize, ‘Oh, it’s a musical, the gayest place on Earth.’”.

It’s hilarious to watch adults learn what actors are.

I only needed to read the words “Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Jesus Christ Superstar” has always drawn criticism for its blasphemous interpretation of Scripture” to appreciate that this publication must be very conservative in its religious bent.

My recollection when JCSS first came out was that it created excitement in many churches as it was listened to by a much larger audience than most Christian denominations were then reaching. The fundamentalists were upset by it but churches which were a bit liberal welcomed the discussion around it.
