That’s a good question, in the US it’s become somewhat of a contentious issue. Do you need a license? Should you drive that thing on a bike lane or on the road? Can you take that e-bike on a bike trail, where you’ll be doing 30mph while folks on acoustic bikes will be doing 12mph?
Partly fueled by:
A chunk of it could maybe be solved if people were just considerate, but good luck with that in the US, lol.
I would go with manual. That seems to be the standard nomenclature when comparing electrified vs non-electrified versions of the same thing, imo. Acoustic has a pretty specific meaning so makes sense for musical instruments.
I know I get chuffed at people on e-bikes passing me on quiet bike paths at high speeds when I am riding my “acoustic bike”. I would be annoyed to see my son’s trike on such a trail just because of its width.
Giving Mathman the benefit of the doubt and assuming he thought of acoustic by himself.
Took my SIL and me 90 minutes today to unpack and unload my son’s pedicab from the three ton truck we rented. It was forklifted on at the warehouse end. Complicated combination of muscle, ingenuity, lifts and planks to get it off the truck. No injuries.
I have been playing with my son’s pedicab and it has more power than I thought. Good on steep hills, up to 20% gradient.
It has a reverse gear, signal lights, windshield wipers, horn, side mirrors, etc. Definitely a deluxe model but too much for my son to handle.
My SIL and his driving age kids got a kick out of it.
Top speed is supposedly 15 mph which I don’t believe from my own lane way drives. Will take it out on the quiet streets south of us tomorrow to give it a workout.
I took it out this morning on some nearby streets and decided it was not for me. It certainly catches peoples’ attention but that is not something I crave!
The old timers around here drive electric scooters. All decked out like they’re in a parade. They’ll drive right down the middle of the road. And worse they’ll go through the McDonald’s drive through AND cut the line.
