DONALD AND MELANIA TRUMP HAVE COVID-19!

well he did that when he had covid. i’m not sure it really worked in his favor though. liberals knew he was full of shit, and his supporters still supported him.

I think he would have won the election if he hadn’t caught covid. He had it during the debate. I watched that debate. He looked like he was going to keel over. It was hard to listen to, but I couldn’t look away. It was like watching a car crash. I was disappointed that trump didn’t actually collapse.

His appeal is that he’s a strong man. And he looked weak. His ratings dropped. Because he was visibly ill, obviously weak. I really think he would have squeaked out a win otherwise.

hard to say if he would have won, but I definitely think that him getting covid worked against him. he might have won again and also lost the popular vote.

Trump was in the hospital, while Biden was all healthy doing campaigning stuff.

This is such an important part of the cult. They attribute to him all the strong/powerful/good adjectives. His failing, his weakness shoved in their face breaks the illusion.

Really? Trump had gotten so unpopular at that point due to his handling of the virus that I don’t think that was the tipping point. Biden won by a lot. We’ll never know, but I doubt it swayed anything THAT much. JMO though.

one would think. I have no idea. I hated him before COVID was a thing. COVID did make me hate him even more though.

Biden’s margin on the tipping point state was 0.63%. Catching COVID and his resulting behavior could have easily lost that margin.

This always puzzles me. My mom is pretty Trump-sympathetic and had fully bought into the notion that Biden = old, Trump = strong man. Biden is relatively in shape and Trump, not to be fatphobic, isn’t exactly winning any swimsuit competitions.

Not to mention the whole draft dodger… how strong does one have to be to say their friend the military will blow you up if given the power?

Aside: since when has “phobic” meant “hate”?
I know it started relatively recently, this century.

Looks like it’s derived from Greek. In terms of the translation and use from phobos to phobia, I’m not sure.

If I were to bet on which of them would either die or develop serious, unhidable cognitive decline first - my money definitely goes on Trump.

Yeah, I know that “phobia” is “fear.” NOT “hate.”
But people attach it to “trans-”, and “homo-” and, like you, “fat-” as if it means
“hate.”
It didn’t always mean “hate.” Just recently.

Unless we are now equating all fears with hate. If so, then never mine. (sic)

I’d pedantically challenge that phobia means aversion, not fear or hate and that its meaning has continued as aversion?

You could probably argue there’s little in my post to suggest it’s not fat-hate though.

Hate is a synonym of aversion. :link:

Yeah but they do have slightly different meanings. Hate is a bit of a catchall.

Thanks. It makes more sense now.

Yeah they’re synonyms, so they’re similar. They can still be slightly different. Unless we want to go full Kevin from The Office and just start getting rid of superfluous/extra/surplus words.

Ah, the slow de-evolution of Kevin…

Strongman = Alpha = Bully. Chicks dig the guys that abuse the weak.
