DOGE (or: the Elmo Show)

It is Ohio, which politically is turning into northern Arkansas, which voted for the wholly untalented and unexperienced daughter of a former governor simply because (R) was after he name, so …

I did some research into the “Irish DEI musical” that was used as a piece of evidence to shut down all of USAID. Possible I missed some evidence, but I did a good-faith effort to track down sources.

  • The White House released a reference to the “DEI musical” in their Executive Order.
  • The reference links to The Daily Mail, a notoriously biased and research-averse publication.
  • The Daily Mail cited Trump Admin Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who claimed there was an “Irish DEI musical” and didn’t elaborate or provide proof.
  • The Daily Mail also did no investigation or follow-up questioning. They just printed it.

It’s best to assume anything coming out of this admin is a lie until demonstrated otherwise.

When in doubt, follow the money. USAID was investigating Starlink.

Sounds like they may have broke the software that scientists around the world use to make bathymetric maps. The code(s) rely on calls to a U.S. database of bathymetry data which is apparently not currently accessible.

when the foundation is “a lot of people are saying” as justification to repeat and promote without need to apologize when it is proven false (see ohio pet eating story), having a media outlet willing to print the inceptional idea allowing the lot to start saying…yeah.

TL;DR Musk is using teenagers with histories of illegal cybercriminal activity and work alongside cybercriminals, with operations in Russia and other foreign connections

A young technologist known online as “Big Balls,” who works for Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has access to sensitive US government systems. But his professional and online history call into question whether he would pass the background check typically required to obtain security clearances, security experts tell WIRED.

Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old high school graduate, established at least five different companies in the last four years, with entities registered in Connecticut, Delaware, and the United Kingdom, most of which were not listed on his now-deleted LinkedIn profile. Coristine also briefly worked in 2022 at Path Network, a network monitoring firm known for hiring reformed blackhat hackers. Someone using a Telegram handle tied to Coristine also solicited a cyberattack-for-hire service later that year.

Tesla.Sexy LLC controls dozens of web domains, including at least two Russian-registered domains. One of those domains, which is still active, offers a service called Helfie, which is an AI bot for Discord servers targeting the Russian market.

Potential concerns about Coristine extend beyond his work history. Archived Telegram messages shared with WIRED show that, in November 2022, a person using the handle “JoeyCrafter” posted to a Telegram channel focused on so-called distributed denial of service (DDoS) cyberattacks that bombard victim sites with junk traffic to knock them offline. In his messages, JoeyCrafter—which records from Discord, Telegram, and the networking protocol BGP indicate was a handle used by Coristine—writes that he’s “looking for a capable, powerful and reliable L7” that accepts bitcoin payments. That line, in the context of a DDoS-for-hire Telegram channel, suggests he was looking for someone who could carry out a layer-7 attack, a certain form of DDoS. A DDoS-for-hire service with the name Dstat.cc was seized in a multinational law enforcement operation last year.

At Path Network, Coristine worked as a systems engineer from April to June of 2022, according to his now-deleted LinkedIn résumé. Path has at times listed as employees Eric Taylor, also known as Cosmo the God, a well-known former cybercriminal and member of the hacker group UGNazis, as well as Matthew Flannery, an Australian convicted hacker whom police allege was a member of the hacker group LulzSec.

What’s really confusing me and I have lost the thread, is how was this kid founding Telsa-affiliate companies when he was 16? Where are these kids being plucked from?

Good. People are fighting back now.

Although the US government reassured the court that only two of Doge’s emissaries, Cloud Software group chief executive Tom Krause and 25-year-old coder Marko Elez, had access to the sensitive system

Wow I’m so reassured that only an entry-level coder can access our multi-trillion dollar payment system.

Sorry, can’t read that, and I am handicapped by my poor eyesight and boycott.

Paywall remover first because they disallow adblockers.

I was curious what kind of racism could get a DOGE staffer to resign, like - is that not the norm?

“You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,”

Seems like a normal Twitter post.

“Normalize Indian hate,” the account wrote the same month, in reference to a post noting the prevalence of people from India in Silicon Valley,” according to the Journal.

Not sure… Maybe hating on Silicon Valley people won’t go well in DOGE?

“Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool,”

A normal Twitter post

In June, the account tweeted, “I would not mind at all if Gaza and Israel were both wiped off the face of the Earth.”

Is this the issue?

Toward Gaza he just had an earlier concept of our President’s plan. However, he also threatened Israel.

tl;dr: Elmo’s Grok does a pretty plausible job summarizing the benefits Elmo gets from being the DOGE-king.

If you click to embiggen the image, it won’t register as an additional view on whatever platform it came from.

From what I have seen, there is a slice of natives in SV that really dislike Indians going there on H1B Visas.

That might be connected to that.

This guy sounds like a white supremacist that is also resentful of having to compete for jobs with Indians.

No idea on the Israel/Gaza thing. That seems like an odd reaction for a white supremacist unless he also happens to be an anti-semite (its possible).

Feel like there are some famous examples of antisemite white supremacists

Sure.

But someone can be a white supremacist but not be an anti-semite.

Elmo for example. He is definitely a white supremacist but not necessarily an anti-semite (jury is out on that one I think)

In any event, the more personnel I see from DOGE the more I am convinced they are pretty dysfunctional cranks and misfits. You really do not want these people with a security clearance going through sensitive records.

Being intelligent doesn’t mean you can’t be super dysfunctional. Elmo seems to attract those kids of people into his orbit.

Sure they can be, but I didn’t think it was odd for someone to be both. I think it is very common.

Could go in a few threads here, but this one is as good as any:

We’ll replace all fired government workers with a chatbot:

Elon Musk’s DOGE Is Working on a Custom Chatbot Called GSAi | WIRED?

Eat it Elmo.
