Anything that hurts Tesla’s reputation is ok with me.
Now I’m even more confused.
The Resolute Desk is not the one with drawers on both sides. It’s the one JFK Jr was peeking out of the bottom of.
I think it’s the C&O Desk that has drawers on both sides.
I wrote all that yesterday.
I assume there’s a disconnect in the ambiguous word partner, which could mean a separate twin desk ala NT2 or one in which two people can share with drawers on either side. Just my guess…
I was referring to Samantha, who said the Resolute desk was a partners desk. But I think that’s wrong. It’s the C&O Desk that’s a partners desk.
Elmo is about to lose a $1.5B contract for providing starlink services to Italy for use in secure communications.
Actions have consequences Elmo.
I expect American technology to slowly be removed bit by bit by European Governments as Musk has clearly become a security risk.
I was going to say that he demonstrably DNGAF, except that he’s trying to meet with the Italians to salvage this. WTF Elon? You lost this deal!
The fact that he thinks his actions don’t have consequences is funny.
Loved all the spinning after the meetings. If you have to say these things, there is a problem;
** In response to a request for comment from The New York Times, Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said in a statement: “As President Trump said, this was a great and productive meeting amongst members of his team to discuss cost-cutting measures and staffing across the federal government. Everyone is working as one team to help President Trump deliver on his promise to make our government more efficient.”**
** Tammy Bruce, a spokeswoman for the State Department, responded, “Secretary Rubio considered the meeting an open and productive discussion with a dynamic team that is united in achieving the same goal: making America great again.”
A Department of Veterans Affairs spokesman said, “As President Trump has said, it’s important to increase efficiency and reduce bureaucracy while keeping in place the best and most productive federal employees. V.A. is working with DOGE and the rest of the administration to do just that.”**
Elon adjacent: Twitter / X has gone down multiple times today due to being fairly effectively attacked.
“Dark Storm Team” hackers have claimed responsibility for the attack. Dark Storm Team is a group known for its sophisticated cyber warfare attacks and successful attacks on high-security systems.
The group claimed responsibility in a public Telegram post, though the actual content of that post remains unclear. Dark Storm Team was formed shortly before the Israeli bombardment of Gaza began in retaliation for Hamas’ invasion of Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, Orange Cyberdefense wrote in a report.
“DarkStorm Team targets key business sectors, mainly in Israel and NATO member countries,” the security services provider wrote in a report. The group reportedly vowed in a post last month to unleash a wave of cyberattacks on the government websites of NATO countries, Israel and nations that support Israel.
Doubt that this order will be followed, but it’s pretty crazy to me that there even exists a legal argument that DOGE shouldn’t be subject to FOIA.

CNN reported Tuesday that it had used the Freedom of Information Act to ask the Office of Personnel Management for records related to the security clearances for billionaire Elon Musk and the staff of the Department of Government Efficiency. An OPM email responded, “Good luck with that” — the staff responsible for responding to FOIA requests at OPM had been fired.
“Anytime that whole FOIA offices are getting fired, it portends terrible things,” said Washington Post FOIA director Nate Jones.
“Typically speaking, FOIA offices and FOIA officers are not considered essential employees,” Harper said, citing the furloughing of many FOIA employees in past government shutdowns.
CNN’s story about the firings noted that the decision to terminate OPM’s public records officers and communications staff mirrored the firing of Twitter’s media relations team when Musk took over the social media company in 2022. For months, press inquiries to Twitter, now known as X, received an automated reply of a poop emoji.
In the face of a FOIA request denial or nonresponse, journalists have a few options outside of litigation, experts said. One is to file a request with another entity that has access to the same information. Sumar said that he advises reporters to file requests with smaller agencies if they can since those agencies tend to receive fewer requests and are thus quicker to respond. State agencies, which adhere to state public records laws, are another option.
Journalists can also make it clear to their audience that the government is withholding information, just as CNN did in its reporting on OPM, Jones said. At the Post, Jones writes a column reporting on the paper’s quests for public records.
Basically, if the government decides not to provide the information (and presumably they’ve been continuing to fire FOIA employees), journalists just have to rely on public outcry compelling the government to comply.
I’m sure this government will really listen to the people. They seem so reasonable to date.
Elmo seems to be obsessed with SS, Medicare, and Medicaid.
If you are planninv on using SS for some of your retirement funds in the US, or use Medicare…I would be concerned.
I don’t want to be fair to Elmo, but in fairness, if you’re seeking to cut US government spending in a material way, it’s probably not possible to do so without touching Social Security and Medicare.
I appreciate that someone’s actually trying to do the hard work to address a seemingly ever-growing budget deficit. However, the implementation, leaves a LOT to be desired.
Going to put this one here.
As his business empire collapses around him I am sure his behavior is going to get much worse.
