It would be better if Trump could just fire specific people and eliminate specific positions like DEI. But due to civil service protections and avoiding excess lawsuits, the best way to do it is mass layoffs. Then you rehire the good people. Vivek Ramaswamy described this process in detail..
I’ve seen people complain about DOGE because they rehired some people they fired. At first glance that seems inefficient. But to avoid legal issues its better to just downsize then rehire where you can be selective and retool entire departments.
Are they cutting people in the field or are they cutting managerial positions? I’m fine with letting at least half the “managers” go at pretty much any agency, they haven’t been responsive or responsible.

The picture of George HW Bush also showed drawers facing away from the POTUS so it doesn’t seem to be a Trump thing.
I think it is a two sided desk. I had to play with MS paint in order to prove to myself that the angles work, but yes it’s valid.

I’ve also see the JFK Jr picture I posted above. No drawers on the non-sitter’s side. Unless there is something else going on.
As I found out slightly later, Trump in that recent photo is sitting at a different desk, called the C&O desk, which appears to be a partner desk.

This was 2/11/25.
An article posted (above) 2/21/25 stated that tRump had removed the Booger Desk to get some refinishing.
He probably just called it “refinishing”, when he actually ordered staff to take it apart to find the hidden compartment.

Meanwhile, Canada appears to be actually looking for waste and fraud. You can probably guess who may have been doing suspicious things to bilk the taxpayers
