DOGE (or: the Elmo Show)

HHS said you don’t have to respond to Musk, but if you do “assume that what you write will be read by malign foreign actors”

This is what I would call a debacle but I assume Americans have a stronger word for it….

Sadly, I think a lot of MAGA would read this and get to “54,575 foreigners have lost their jobs” and go “Good, they’re doing what they’re supposed to!

Not to mention if they continue to read about lack of food and medicine killing foreigners.

Sadly a lot of Americans have the delusion that a huge chunk of the federal budget is spent on foreign aid, making their taxes high. Only a pittance went to foreign aid, saving many lives. It was a real source of American soft power around the globe.

This memo came out after work hours in DC with a midnight deadline.

Several agencies pushed back on this and told their employees not to respond to it.

HHS said to assume any of your emails will be read by “malign foreign actors”.

In the face of the administrative discord and public backlash, Musk walked things back - the email was now voluntary:

But most recently, they’re saying that employees will get a a second chance - at Donald Trump’s discretion:

Government Efficiency! Trump claims, “There was a lot of genius in sending it.”

New proposal: cut algebra and replace it with a basic review of how the US gvt actually spends all of its money on old people…

Old people and military toys. The Defense Department never comes close to getting a pass when audited either, with continuing material weaknesses.

Cutting critical life saving programs abroad didn’t play well with many, so Rubio and the Press secretary started propaganda that certain life saving programs would not be halted.

Of course they keep firing or putting on leave those wirh knowledge about them, and quitely cutting the funding anyway with little fanfare.

Encouraging that Fox News is running a story in which Republicans are criticizing Musk.

I suspect that Musk is about to be marginalised by the Rs.

The primary reason that he is going to end up being booted to the curb is because of his infantile behavior and lack of professionalism.

This is costing the Rs votes and public opinion is turning against them.

He is a strange bedfellow for a populist movement.

So is trump, i suppose, but trump has a singular charisma (even if you don’t like it) that musk simply does not have.
