Gyro for dinner tonight, platter, so basically deconstructed, Fries & Salad on side
meeting a friend for lunch at a gyro place, question is now relevant to me. did yâall ever decide whether lettuce goes on gyro or not?
Lettuce agree to disagree
Summary:
Lettuce isnât traditional (doesnât grow in Greece).
Lettuce is a filler that takes up valuable intra-gyro real estate.
Report back on standard gyro fixings at lunch.
Agreed.
Just make it a lettuce wrap with the gyro stuff inside, if youâre trying to cut bready calories. Or, better yet, not being a huge mess, just eat it with a fork, no wrap at all.
Order it as is, and report back with your findings
We have visited Greece a few times over the last decade (Athens, Santorini, Naxos, Koufonisia) and the gyros never had lettuce. Same with the souvlaki. Its just not a thing in Greece.
gyro was:
pita
lamb
tomatoes
cucumber
red onion
tzatziki sauceâŚ
and like 3 shreds of lettuce. Why bother?
To irritate you.
I think they meant to put in 42 shreds but they were running low on supplies and there was not much romaining
Lettuce leaf the puns out as well.
Caesar the opportunities!
Kale Caesar
Thereâs a local restaurant that serves a kale caesar salad.
Lettuce isnât traditional, and i voted ânoâ, but i think it would improve a gyro.
now that you are retired do you have time to go through old threads?
No lettuce on any of my sandwiches, with a broad definition of sandwich, to include burgers, hot dogs, tacos, gyros, and anything pita related.
BLT?
