I gave my team a free half day off because of Monday’s holiday (it varies by manager but a half day is probably the most generous, most do 2 hours early release, or nothing at all). I’m also giving myself a free half day off. I don’t think my manager cares. I hope he doesn’t, that would be a waste of his time.
If anyone cares about you slacking off once in a while, or surfing GoA, you don’t want to work there. Screw that, if you’re getting things done, folks shouldn’t hassle you.
The few times in my career where I requested OT pay, it got taxed up the wazoo. I much prefer having the time off.
I have a ‘book an appt with space lobster’ calendly link on my website. It’s 2 on a friday afternoon. Someone just booked an appointment for 7 tonite.
Didn’t G a flying F today.
Trying real hard not to care. The past month has been crazy, and I’ve got a lot of travel coming up. I’ve got two more meetings and I need to update a dozen slides for the month.
But for now, I rode downtown for lunch. Wish I didn’t have more calls and maybe I’d have a lunch beer.
Unlike I think most of you folks, my fridays are generally stupid busy. Today is no exception. I barely had 3 minutes for lunch and I’m still going, too many tasks. And I have to leave by 330. Busy busy busy.
Home sick with a nasty head cold.

the weekend so far. my spouse is away so I’ve been foraging in the cupboards. I went to the Indian store and the Asian store and picked up a bunch of single meals, no idea what they are. Two duds so far. one meal, I’m like, I am not eating that. the second one was waaay too hot. I tried, couldn’t.
interestingly, the one meal came with a pouch. put water over it and it boils the water and cooks the meal. I dunno about chemical reactions in my food like that lol.
my daughter is out with my son in law at a concert. normally my spouse would babysit the grandkids, but they’re not here so I get to. I swear my kids think I’m incompetent. I know all they’ve seen is their mother do the house stuff. but a) I raised two kids, I know how to change a diaper, give a kid a bath, and put them to bed. I did equal shares of that. and I can cook a meal, I lived on my own for 10 years, and does it look like I went hungry? anyway, granddaughter is happily asleep now. I might have a nap myself.
Went to the farmers market this morning. Got a few things on the list today, but gonna try to G as few Fs as possible.
Same, I am done with my lone meeting, I’ve updated one model. If that passes QA I’ll repeat that this afternoon, that’s a solid half hour of working.
Took the bike out for a nice ride and a slow lunch.
I do the same workouts in the same order each week. Not necessarily on the same days, but the first one is X, the second is Y, and the third is Z. Z is almost always on Fridays.
And every Friday I think to myself, while resting between lunges and hating myself, how is it already Friday AGAIN?!
All day meeting. Medium GAFness.
The first Friday of the month is ‘meeting light Friday,’ so I have but one meeting. I’m currently NGAF about anything at all but I have some things to get done today, mostly reading up on a bunch of rules about how quality works in the Medicare Shared Savings Program going forward. Oh, and nudging a few folks forward to get some assumptions I need for the forecast.
Someone added a second meeting! It’s fine, it was 30 minutes and it’s related to an acquisition that would net us many millions of dollars, and I didn’t have to prepare anything.
Acquisitions are for acquir- ers.
They are an acquired taste.
Scheduled off every Friday in the quarter. First one was today, and I had to go into work at 7AM and work until noon, and now I’m logging back on to wrap up some things for a Monday morning meeting.
Maybe next week will go better!
Out sick today. Infection came back as bronchitis after going to urgent care yesterday.
GAF-o-meter was 0 all day.
Did a grocery shop and a delivery, earned 44 bucks. Scored a BOGO at Potbelly sub. Not too much stress. Just kidding, no stress.
