DNGAF Friday

Awesome!
It will be 90F here today. Going to get a beer at a local brewery a little later after F’s are G’en. Sit outside, in the shade.

I’m pretty much done for the week, I don’t think I have anything left that can’t wait, and I’m tired. We are going out for dinner and then to see Jay Chandrasekhar do a stand-up show, should be fun!

Lol braggart :).

I hope it cools down a bit Sunday & Monday. I hate walking around Disney when it’s that hot.

I think I can start G-ing an F or 2 right about now.

Dude is really, really funny. Great show!

Gotta start getting stuff together for the ol’ tax return. Might squeeze in some CPD as well.

Friday’s are normally stupid busy. Today, it’s a tomb. Nothing going on, no calls, no emails.
So, we’re taking off early for a date night. There’s a newer ‘business’ costco in toronto. Taking the spouse for a wander around to see what that’s about and I’m buying them a costco hotdog for supper. Old people date night for sure.

My last meeting was cancelled. I have to give updated revenue numbers on Monday but we just went through them last week for the board meeting so it’ll be very brief, just finished slides.

Probably about to call it a day, the first four days of this week were extremely busy.

Just got back from Costco. Turns out, the business centers are different than a regular costco,it’s all mostly just large scale business/restaurant stuff. Fun to check out. I made it out with only spending $160.
And this costco didn’t have a restaurant so I had to break down and take the spouse to a real restaurant. But good news, it was prime rib special night! Guess what I had.

A hot dog?

And a shit Pepsi product.

I thought they changed to Coke? Has that not happened at your Costco?

Whoa! Now I gotta check it out every time I go. I can slurp down three or four cups while doing a puzzle or two.

AND they have Coke Zero at that. Makes going to Costco for dinner once a month a lot more enjoyable (my kids like the pizza and hot dogs).

Alright! I think I might need to fill up… my car on gasoline, I mean. And, while there, I might as well do some shopping, that always gets me hungry and thirsty.

Thing is, I haven’t done the hot dog meal since probably before COVID. It was on our list at work of cheap lunch spots, cuz actuaries (also fast, so, more time for puzzles). At one of the Costco’s I go to, the food service is outdoors and usually the opposite side of where I park. So, I have not seen the switch.

AI Google:

Costco is transitioning its food court fountain drinks from Pepsi to Coca-Cola, a change that began in July 2025 and was completed in early 2026 across its warehouses. The switch returns Coke to the menu for the first time since 2013, with products including Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, and Coke Zero.

  • Why the Switch: While the 2013 switch to Pepsi was to manage costs, the return to Coca-Cola is likely driven by customer preference and partnership, reported thestreet.com.
  • Impact on Prices: The famous hot dog and soda combo remains the same price despite the drink change.

So, pretty recent. I for one, welcome our Coke Products overlord…

It’s funny, I know that Coke Zero tastes more like Coke than Diet Coke. But I got hooked on Diet Coke and now I can’t switch.

OK, doing some math…
As I’ve noted before, which station to get gasoline depends on these major factors:

  1. Price differential.
  2. Cost of gasoline.
  3. Distance difference from the two stations
  4. MPG of car
  5. How much gas will be bought.

I think this is pretty good question for an interviewee to test their logic and Excel skills, but I digress…

So:

  1. $0.70/gal price differential.
  2. $5.30 (premium, dude, premium! Plus CA)
  3. 20-mile round trip difference.
  4. 22 MPG these days (should get 27, so taking it to a shop where they will tell me that quality of life is most important in these situations).
  5. Should get about 10 gallons.

So, I save about $7, but spend $5 getting there and back. So, I have enough left over for a hot dog! I actually SAVE money eating there!!

And people say owning an EV is complicated with the charging and what-not. Unless I’m on a road trip, my choices are:

  1. My garage, at $0.07 per kWh

That’s it, easy peasy.
