Fridays are normally stupid busy for me. not today. .things quieted down about two. I went to the grocery store, did some snow shovelling and now I’m just kicking back for an hour before going to pick my son and his gf up from the airport. nice.
woke up at a conference out of town on Friday. cleared emails (amid hotel fire alarm tests!), went to a session, took an important client call, jumped in an uber and somehow made the earlier flight home!
Trying to G some Fs to some actuarializing. Gonna try to put in another couple of hours…
Friday’s are normally my busiest day and today’s been crazy like normal. But I’ve got one more application to write up at 3pm, then my calendar is free. So unless someone emails me, I’m gonna be done for the weekend shortly.
Which is good because I need to make lamb curry and naan for six people by sunday, plus go to home depot and get some stuff, plus get all my ice fishing stuff organized for sunday plus plus.
I’m on my last call of the week, we turned in the forecast on Wednesday, I’m not doing anything else today at work. Plus it’s 63°F, I think I might hop on the bike and try to ride off some stress.
I was almost out the door when someone called in. Do I want to callback for what might be $3K in income?
Sigh.
Think of all the pants and truck repairs you could buy!!! ![]()
Gonna put in another 10 minutes, then calling it a day.
Woke up early to help someone with an errand, worked on a puzzle, took a nap, won at bridge online, got the groceries, what to eat for dinner?
annual review and 2 client calls and some other responses dominated the day.
Fridays have become the only day I can really get focused work done, so the last several have been more GAF than I’d like.
But today I ducked out a little early to make it home to get dressed up for a valentines dinner.
would you lose that deal if you didn’t call back until Monday?
when the phone rings I always say ‘thats money calling. and when money calls, I answer’.
That sucks, IMO. I really enjoy my time away from work, so much so that I created processes (not AI) for my work so I hardly have to think anymore, freeing up my brain to solve the world’s problems.

Right after this beer.
first thing tomorrow before 7:00 a.m., then a snooze, then some actuarializing. Gotta squeeze in a visit to Service Ontario (provincial gubmint) for new car plates.
Fluff me gently. ![]()
While I will have some Fs to G tomorrow, I’m not setting an alarm.
I was headed to Ikea this evening. Then someone rando books a meeting into my calendar at 7pm. Off to Ikea this morning I guess.
We have ‘meeting light Fridays’ at work. I have six meetings today, f this. I need to block time to update the old resume.
I block off my Fridays with a meeting that says “No Meetings Friday! Is it Urgent?” And that does keep people from scheduling over it for the most part. But I have three meetings today. Better than the 10+ I average the rest of the week.
Oh, I have a meeting scheduled all day saying ‘meeting light Friday,’ it’s just that so many people here who think that chasing shiny things is the way to go. My manager runs her whole life a day at a time, it’s infuriating.
The sun is shining the skies are clear blue. It’s 4C instead of -25 for a change. Work is like a tomb, nobody calling, all my tasks caught up mostly.
I think I’m gonna grab a mcDonald’s coffee and go for a drive into T&T, pick up some wontons and stuff. I’ll likely crank the radio up when I’m driving.
