Disney Merges Fubo and Hulu + Live TV to Settle Sports Streaming Lawsuit

If you can’t beat them join them? Disney gets rid of an irritant, the lawsuit brought by Fubo against Venu/Disney, by merging Hulu + Live TV with Fubo.

While I can imagine any combined new sports service may have a lot of offerings, I’m guessing it may be even more pricey than initially proposed now that one of the only competitors is out of the way.

We’ll see how it shakes out. For now I’m keeping ESPN+ as I enjoy it for the soccer content.

Interesting. Right now I have the package with Hulu Live, Disney and ESPN+, but lost access to White Sox, Blackhawks and Bulls games when they started a new RSN in October. If I can add Disney and ESPN+ to Fubo, may be a better option.

Hmm I selfishly don’t like this. Any time there was a big sporting event Fubo only had I would sign up for a 7 day free trial with a new email address. I am now worried this won’t be available any more!

We have too many streaming services but I wonder what this will do to my Fubo package and current Disney Bundle?

Venu is dead before it got started. That seems like a good thing to me, and particularly so with the merger discussed here.

I’m not starting a separate thread for this.

ESPN’s new streaming service has a launch price (WSJ gift link): https://www.wsj.com/business/media/espns-new-streaming-service-will-cost-29-99-a-month-935b82e2?st=mXDR7z&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink

I hope the ESPN streaming app won’t be the steaming pile of :poop: that the ESPN+ app was/is. (I canceled it when I realigned my streaming subscriptions / when I updated my cell phone plan a few months ago.)

I do wonder if Disney/HBO will have a Disney+, Hulu, Max, ESPN bundle.

Or you can bundle that with the NBC and CBS streaming services as well for one great price!

Bump.
Seems like a reasonable thread for this.
YouTubeTV dropped ABC and sister networks.

Might switch to “Hulu+ Live TV” if this keeps up, after watching everything that I “recorded” on YouTube. Fun fact: YouTubeTV drops stuff you’ve recorded but haven’t yet watched, because “it’s been too long.” Hey, I get around to it when I get around to it!
The Hulu bundle includes ESPN+, so more soccer.

They threw most of the soccer I watched on ESPN+ behind the Disney Plus paywall this season. I canceled my ESPN+ account as a result.

Bump for Netflix and WB:

Yeesh. On one hand, I don’t mind not having to pay for the two services anymore. Downside is that I might pay double for it, AND I still won’t be able to find what I’m looking for and their “smart” AI won’t properly narrow down to what I’m thinking at the time.
And, I think it will start devolving to the gym membership business model. “You’re already paying, so I won’t replace that ratty bench or that broken lat pull-down machine.”

Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery said earlier that the latter’s Global Networks Division will be separated into a new publicly-traded company, which is expected to be completed in Q3 of 2026.

It will include cable networks such as CNN, Discovery Channel, TNT, HGTV, Animal Planet, Food Network, Investigation Discovery, TLC, TruTV, Turner Classic Movies and Cartoon Network as well as Warner Bros. International Television Production, which will ostensibly become the in-house production arm of this group.

This is a bummer, since HBO Max includes TCM, which I like for seeing actual cinema (inner Scorcese channeled).
