yeah, i’m wondering this too. i know throwing gum on the ground is against the law, but do you get caned for it? not sure.
i regret a lot of it too. Should have gone with other options the majority of times. But sometimes as a parent u just run out of patience
being gay in Singapore is illegal. It’s a no from me dawg.
Looks like at the caning peak there were about 6000 canines per year from a population of about 5 million. Disturbingly high, but not something the average person has to worry about to much.
I guess they like cats more?
It’s only illegal if they catch you, amirite
in general, asian culture has a strong adherence to the group. I think it takes a lot more discipline for this adherence, hence the propensity for corp punishment
also, your kids personality before age 5 is incredibly important. It will determine his/her social relationships for the rest of their lives. So you want to correct any anti-social tendencies pretty early
So, do kids become sociopaths because they weren’t disciplined or to they become sociopaths because they were disciplined?
socialpaths gonna socialpath no matter what
This is what post scarcity looks like. In the past conformity and productivity were all that mattered because every person had to pull their weight just to eat. Now 1/2 of us can support all of us and we worry way more about things like mental health and personal preferences. We’re like a society climbing up Mazlov’s hierarchy.
Autocorrect is a bitch. This is a good one, worth saving (which is why I pasted it here.)
forgot to add. While there are many asians who are “better” for this, there are also many that resent it or are damaged by it. Example would be the hikikomori in japan (social recluses)
disagree with this. we are hugely a product of our environment. sure, genetics plays a role too, but in terms of “sociopaths” I think a lot of it has to do with how you’re treated in life.
i think u are talking about extreme cases here, not swats on the derriere
Depends on the kid
okay, looking up gum chewing laws in singapore, and i was confused thinking it’s just littering with gum that’s against the law, but no, gum chewing is, which i hate gum, so whatever. the penalty is up to 100k fine and 2 year prison sentence or both for the first offense, and increases for subsequent offenses. nothing about caning though.
also, being an out gay man is illegal, but lesbians are welcome.
I had the case wrong, it wasn’t gum but vandalism that got an American caned back in the day
which is funny because nothing is more anti patriarchy than lesbianism.
