Here are a couple salient points if you don’t want to click on the link -
Trump “actually did keep two promises,” he added. “He kept his promise to destroy the right to choose in this country. And he kept his promise on tax cuts for the rich. And if you want to know what a second Trump term would be like, I would start by looking at those rare promises that he actually managed to keep.”
Then it went into crime
After Bream referenced “high profile” cases of crime in the country, Buttigieg interjected, “Of course, there are individual cases, but this is my point. Trying to make people think that crime is up when crime is down under Joe Biden and crime was up under Donald Trump.”
“Now, I don’t know how often that gets reported on this network,” he continued. “So if you’re watching this at home, do yourself a favor and look up the data. Great. So if you look this up at home, you will know that crime went down under Biden and crime went up under Trump.”
Yes but I think with the exception of the 2020 COVID year Crime, both property and violent, has been on a downward trend since 2013.
My guess is this is probably due to the economy generally improving year over year under Obama, Trump and Biden.
But it does run counter to Trump’s stump speech about rampant increasing violent crime where Biden is letting all the illegal immigrants from other countries jails in to rape your children in public restrooms after turning them woke or something. And then maybe taking them home for dinner with the late great Hanibal Lecter.
Speaking of illegals, border crossing are way down recently. But I’m sure Fox has migrant caravan season scheduled for mid to late October this year.
Go back to practically any prior decade and you’ll see some high-profile crime story about illegal immigrants and this great fear among people that the nation was going to hell in a handbasket. Kind of like people want to talk about kids being bastard heathens today because some kid commits a violent crime and it’s the fault of some new technology or kids being unsupervised or whatever, when the same stuff happened in decades past and it got blamed on either whatever new technology had come along or that kids were unsupervised.
Almost like shit has happened for decades, and people need something to blame while wistfully remembering “the good old days” as being something better than they really were.
Often due to demographics changing from the high-crime 15-25 age demographic to older gens.
That is the explanation for the 80’s crime spree and subsequent drop, per Freakonomics
People who have steady employment are simply less likely to commit crime and Biden has the lowest unemployment rate of any President in quite some time.I think you have to go back to the 40s for lower rates over a sustained period of time. To be fair to Trump his unemployment rates were generally under 4% outside of the COVID spike.
Remember during COVID when fruit rotted in the fields across the US because there weren’t enough migrant workers?
The cherry orchard that’s adjacent to our backyard went completely unpicked in 2020, and we don’t even live near the border. We picked dozens of pints of cherries and didn’t make a dent.
It’s kind of bizarre. Yeah, warp speed was probably the best of Trump. But we’re 4 years later now and operation slow crawl could have gotten him the vaccine by now.
Yeah, I used to loudly sing Trump’s praises for Operation Warp Speed - a legitimate success over which he presided - to anti-vax MAGAers in the hopes they’d see getting vaccinated as a pro-Trump thing. But I think that ship has sailed at this point.
But if they do that debate question where they ask you to say something nice about your opponent, this is absolutely where Kamala Harris should go.
Razor blades on the back of her hand, i hope.
“Even as people believed his shit about horse drugs and bleach, he persevered in being the inventor of the vaccine.”
