Democrats Say the Darndest Things!

Oh god, not the fucking frogs again. Maybe I’ll get drunk tonight and respond, don’t have it in me right now.

“Do you realise that fluoridation - is the most monstrously-conceived and dangerous Communist plot we have ever had to face?”

Uh, this guy definitely has talked about this serious issue.

Yeah… You have to be right, honestly. I’m not sure who’s propping him up or why, but he’s definitely some flavor of off his rocker and has been for a while.

Chemicals in the water?

Are they reading porn to children?

I’m not sure I want to watch that.

Okay, let’s talk about frogs and purity of bodily fluids.

Frogs change sex naturally, even in pollution free environments. In 1993, even before Planet Earth, Sir David Attenborough’s older brother Richard appeared in a famous nature film in which a major plot point was that splicing dinosaur DNA with frog DNA is not a good idea. Drawing conclusions about humans from studying amphibians is tenuous.

There have indeed been some studies suggesting that the rate of sex change among frogs is higher when they are exposed to estrogen. But the descriptions that Kennedy uses make it sound like he is responding to a 2010 Berkeley study done in which they exposed frogs to Atrazine. The frogs involved in the study had ZZ sex chromosomes, not XY. Atrazine is a herbicide, not a hormone. It does affect the endocrine system in animals, and they used frogs in the experiment b/c amphibians seem to be affected by atrazine more strongly than humans are. Using this study to make any solid conclusions about humans doesn’t make sense and was not the aim of the study.

There are lots of chemicals in our drinking water, focusing on hormones over all the other chemicals is an odd obsession of the right. Atrazine is found in the drinking water of millions of Americans, and Trump’s EPA concluded that it isn’t harmful. Europeans disagree – Atrazine is banned in the EU, and you still get plenty of trans individuals there, which contradicts the idea that it is the driving force for people to transition in the US. There have also been trans people in ancient Rome, among Native Americans, in Asia, etc., all of which were free of modern chemicals. Thinking that the rise in the proportion of people who are openly trans is due to a chemical cause rather than societal acceptance is just not supported by the evidence.

Not surprised by the comment in the article that:

“A 2020 Oxford University study found nearly 1 in 5 British people believed Jews created the coronavirus pandemic for financial gain.”

It seems that it is not hard in any population to find almost 20% of the population susceptible to conspiracy theories and/or racist. Not surprising that flaky RFK Jr enjoys about 20% support.

Is that nationwide or just among Democrats?

Among Democrats.

I’d hate to think how many are susceptible to conspiracy/racism on the Republican side.

Accurate polling on racism is difficult because so many people represent as not being racist but clearly are by their words and deeds. How many times do you hear a Republican Congressman use racist rhetoric followed by the words “I am not a racist”?

The percentage believing in a particular conspiracy varies widely, of course. I have seen numbers as high as 50% of the general population believing in at least one conspiracy! Of course, the numbers are also pretty high for political conspiracies depending upon which party you poll. Democrats and Republicans will poll very differently as to whether the 2020 Presidential Election was rigged!

The word “Bidenomics” is stupid and needs to go away.

Unfortunately the practice of attaching the suffixes omics, nomics, or enomics to a presidents name, which began with Regan is here to stay.

Obamacare started as an insult, now it is basically the official name

Funny though how some folks think the Affordable Care Act is great but hate Obamacare….

“A recent article in the New York Times reported survey results showing that one-third of the people surveyed did not know that “Obamacare” and the “Affordable Care Act” refer to the same law.”
