Instructions weren’t really clear, but the 3 letters you use in each row should be made into a word at the end. I’ve edited the original post to make that clearer.
Correct!
I got all of them except the 2nd word on #3. Not sure why that one gave me so much trouble.
That one took me some time too, but only because I thought the three letters I figured out from the previous word were different than they actually were.
My mind went to ‘BruteForce’ when I saw BO__F_CE

Place one of A, B, C, or D into each of the 25 empty cells so that the number of letters in each row and column is as indicated by the numbers. Identical letters cannot be next to each other in the grid either horizontally or vertically.
We did this same type of puzzle on 2/10 and 6/30.
Correct!
I’m a bit lost on these. Is any first move actually forced?
Yes. The first letter I placed was a D.
Remember that no two orthogonally adjacent cells can have the same letter. You don’t need to do any guessing on this puzzle, it can all be completed using logic.
Here's a starting hint if you need more
There are no D’s in the first and fourth rows. Since the rightmost column has two D’s in it, one of these two D’s must be in the bottom cell of the fifth column, since they can’t be next to each other in the second and third cells. Then, in that same column, t here are two C’s. There are no C’s in the second row, so one of the C’s in the rightmost column must be in the top cell. Next, figure out where to place the two B’s in the top row.
This is helpful. I wasn’t dismissing the adjacency requirement as much as I wasn’t picking up on how to use it properly.
Bonus puzzle today because I won’t be posting tomorrow.
