Summary

How are there two 8/9/21?

Because dates are hard :flushed: That second one should be 8/10

I have no idea how to even approach 8/10, other than knowing the one column is all zeroes

I started by coloring out cells that could not have the treasure. There’s the column with 0’s. There’s a row with a “1” near the middle that has an arrow pointing to the right. So you know the cells to the left can’t have a treasure. If you do that enough, then you’ll start to find squares that have to have a treasure.

Oh yeah that makes sense. Duh. Too early when I attempted it I think.

It took me a minute to get going on this one because I had to re-remember from last time that cells with an arrow can’t have a treasure, too.

8/11/2021 - TWO FIVES FOR A TEN
Starting on a consonant, spell out a ten-letter word going from letter to adjacent letter - horizontally, vertically, or diagonally - as you use every letter in the grid once. Then rearrange that ten-letter word into two 5-letter words that begin and end with the letters shown in rows at the bottom. What are the words?

I found track first, then followed it to make sound. But then I was like “Track Sound” doesn’t make sense. Took a second for it to click

Then I had to write down the 6 letters not used already for the 2 5-letter words. I found “Drunk” first, but then the remaining letters didn’t make sense. Then I saw that I almost had “Scout” if I just switched out the u for the a.

Summary

Yeah, “track” almost immediately stood out to me and I figured it must be part of the word. the “sound” took a little longer.

I gave up on d__k once I saw multiple possibilities (drank/drunk) and focused on s___t. Scout was the first word I found, then the other was easy with the remaining letters.

8/13/2021 - BOXED MIX
Unscramble the six words and enter them into the grid in some order so that the same words read across and down. One letter has been placed already. Watch out! Some scrambles may give more than one word, and only the correct six words will make the square.
