The grid is a bird’s-eye view of a city’s downtown core. Place a number from 1 to 5 (representing a building’s height) in each cell so that no two buildings in any row or column have the same height. The numbers outside the grid tell you the number of buildings visible from that direction. Higher buildings block the view of lower ones behind them. Can you determine the heights of all 25 buildings?

Summary

!!!

4 1 5 3 2
2 3 4 5 1
1 2 3 4 5
5 4 1 2 3
3 5 2 1 4

Correct!

Going to be trying to post multiple puzzles each day now to try and catch up. I do have some PTO coming up though, so if you don’t hear from me for a while it’s either because work picked up or I’m on PTO.

3/20/2021 - COUPON CIRCULATION
Patsy had several coupons. Patsy gave 1/8 of her coupons to Sam and 3/4 of the remaining coupons to Daphne. Then Daphne and Sam each gave six coupons back to Patsy. At that point, Patsy had 26 coupons. How many coupons did she start with?

3/21/2021 - CENTERPIECE
Fill in the blanks so that each column spells a common three-letter word and the middle row spells something a lion might need.

A B D O M E N
E Y E B R O W

Hard to see in the second one, but there’s a blank row between ABDOMEN and EYEBROW.

3/20

26-6-6=14
14x4=56
56/7x8=64 original number of coupons.

3/21
A B D O M E N
C O U R A G E
E Y E B R O W
3/21 alternate

I got the real one for 3/21, but the Lion could also use a payrage for all the hard work he’s been doing.

3/21

I kept getting stuck with LAIR something. Couldn’t figure out the something part.

Summary

Rage was pretty forced with the three letter words, so I worked backwards from there

Summary

Agree. Except I kept trying to force moorage or peerage, before seeing the u answer.

Summary

I started with the 2nd and 3rd. The options there seemed to be A/O and I/O/U. The most common combination out of that is OU, so I assumed it must be that. Then I did the ending, as you did, where there didn’t really even seem to be any choices at all.

Solve this unusual crossword, writing all answers diagonally up or down from left to right.
Down

  1. Concert grand, e.g.
  2. Feel one’s way
  3. Fence crossing
  4. Total
  5. Stir-fry pan

Up
5. Hairpiece
6. Laughs loudly
7. Entanglements
8. Poppy drug
9. “Slippery” tree

Kind of funny. You can just rotate 45 degrees and its a standard puzzle.

But then it wouldn’t have taken me extra time to put together!

Hmm. I don’t know what 3 down is. And I’ve never heard of 9 up, although it’s obvious what it needs to be.
