We’re in the corporatocracy. It’s the dawn of mass media, television, etc.
The BBEG intentionally summoned a monster in town at peril of the townsfolk, and I managed to use Disguise Self and call out attention to it with a news camera. With a Persuasion of 27, I tacked on a “Hero Points” ability we can use. For all 3 Hero Points I had accumulated, I could “Immediately turn a rumor into a scandal”. I accurately pinned the summon on the BBEG, while another of us magically held him in place. With a Deception of Nat 1, he basically admitted on camera to crimes, and was arrested.
I’m sure he wasn’t the ultimate BBEG of the entire campaign… but also, our DM will be rewriting.
