Crash of American Airlines regional jet and Army helicopter

This calls for a cross thread reminder of Boeing’s excellent safety record over the past 13 months:

Also worth noting that Musk is visiting with Boeing to try and speed up the replacement of the new Airforce 1 747s…

Rush those out the door! Deadlines are super important!

(I might rot in hell for typing that :grimacing:.)

Yes. My comment was dripping with sarcasm!

Oh yes, I figured it was!

I’d rather fly in a CRJ than a 737 any day. (not sarcastic)

I guess that makes me a bad American.

I tried listening on CNN, but I just gave up. :man_shrugging:

I did not have blaming dwarves on my bingo card.

Sounds like a huge oversight on your part

I’d guess he’s a big fan of Snow White

Ditto, and for an additional reason.

One of our smaller airlines, Porter, uses the CRJ on longer flights, like Vancouver-Toronto. I like them because of the single aisle, 2-2 seating configuration. I usually travel with my wife on that route so we can always have an aisle and window seat with no third person intruding on us.

Porter uses Embraer, not CRJ.

Thanks. I obviously can’t tell one single aisle plane from another.

Huh? Did Trump blame dwarves‽

I like the little canadair and embreair planes, too.

I’m guessing that they don’t have people with epilepsy telling airplanes where to go. Just… You know, my best guess. They might have someone with epilepsy analyzing prior accidents to look for how to prevent future ones.

My understanding is the commercial and military are on different frequencies. ATC communicate on both, but the plane and helicopter can’t hear each other. So if you’re hearing just the one frequency, you’re missing half the conversation. There are versions with the complete conversation out there.

ATC asked the helicopter pilot if he could see the plane. He said yes, then requested visual separation, meaning that it was the helicopter’s responsibility to watch and make sure he avoided the plane.

In one of the reports I saw, it was mentioned that one of the helicopter pilots was female. I’m wondering if that’s part of the reason Trump is blaming DEI.

ETA

Nevermind 3 of the 4 pilots involved were male.

I have read that the father of the plane’s co-pilot is also a pilot who was also an Army helicopter pilot on that route. So the father not only lost a son, but quite possibly knew the people on the Blackhawk.
