My wife and I saw a show recently which was great. Before we went in we bought a couple drinks that took the person helping about 20 seconds from request to service. It was at a show so the drink prices are silly, she turned the screen round for a tip and a little amazed at the total I clicked 0. Then she seemed a bit annoyed and asked if she could have done anything further for us… wasn’t sure if I should have tipped…
Maybe we are looking at this the wrong way. Maybe actuaries need to start asking for 20% tips.
Exactly why I stopped going to Panera, where they expect you to tip when you order. How do they expect you to tip for good service when they expect the tip before the service? Can you ask for your tip back?
I’m just going to add Outback to the list of places I won’t go back to, like Panera. I can get a small, mediocre steak lots of places. I don’t need to be overcharged for one.
Or as it is called in Australia: “Steakhouse.”
[Seinfeld voice]Oh, and what’s the deal these days about charging extra for dipping sauces??
Only thing I can think of is that poor people come in, ask for free dipping sauces, eat them, and that is their meal for the day. That’s sad, but I think since I’m PAYING for food for which I want dipped, they should be free. The Fucking Habit did that to me.
(I’ve actually seen poor people go into Baja Fresh, go to the salsa bar, get salsa, then eat it with chips they brought in. That’s sad, too.)
