CL, EL, Cups and non-EPL League discussion

Can’t count them out.

The set-piece goals were pretty awesome.

Arsenal should just put the ball in the corner the entire game. If you can’t lose any worse than 3-0, they should all be fired.

I hope Vancouver fans are not going to get sucked into paying big bucks in the hope they will see Messi play. “Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice.,”

The distance and the turf.
And his age, as last night’s performance showed (/s).

I hope Messi, and some of the other Miami prima donnas, feel the plane ride to Vancouver is too long: improves the Whitecaps’ chance to get to the Final.

Fox just assumes the USA and Mexico will be the finalists in the CONCACAF Gold Cup competition.

The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup is underway on FS1 and, soon, the United States and Mexico will know what their path to the final looks like.

Some matches are scheduled in Vancouver. Should be an easy ticket to get since Canada is not a serious contender.

They do this every time. It results in grouped teams potentially playing each other in the semi’s and not the finals.
World Cup doesn’t do that. The first and second place teams of each Group are put in opposite brackets. Now, the third place teams in 2026? No idea. Probably placed near the second-place teams of their Group.

I’m surprised they only clash twice a year (or once more for Coppa Italia):

Same stadium, so rivals know when the other team has a home match. Maybe it’s too tiring turning hate into action about a game 18 times a year.

… strike three.

Madrid better not lose to Arsenal. That would be utterly humiliating given Arsenal’s recent form.

Oops

I am not going to hear the end of this in the UK.

I am flying to Brazil tomorrow.

Going to drown my sorrows with a few caipirinhas in Rio.

Those giant rodents??
No worries. It wasn’t as if RM were at the top of the best league in the world by a wide margin.

UCL should adopt the EPL rules regarding the extra balls: The ball boys are not there to influence the match. They should: get the ball, put it on the tee, go back to their spot. No interaction with players at all.
Otherwise, I think they should be classified as Team Officials (since in the past, they have taken their orders from Coaches) and get yellow cards for delaying the restart of the match…

Two EPL teams having dismal seasons, Man U and Tottenham, make it to the Europa League semi-final.

MUN match was awesome! Down 2 in extra time, come back to win it!
They did have a man advantage for the whole extra time.

Would be hilarious if TOT or Man U won Europa League and thus qualify for next year’s Champions’ League! Would go to my local Spurs pub to watch if they meet in the Final.

I think that would give the EPL a sixth team, assuming the winner ends the season out of top 5?

They showed a MUN kid fan crying at 3-4 with two minutes left on the unofficial clock, then being picked up by his dad crying with joy after 5-4.

Also, can someone explain to me what position Harry Maguire plays? Start of extra time he was last man back. After they got behind, he plays striker.

That is my understanding. Top five EPL spots plus the Europa Champions and League winners if they are not in the top 5 EPL finishers. Europa League winner will not be top 5 but Champions League winner probably will be.
