Christmas Markets

Are you in Dortmund? Not far from my friends!

Yes. In Dortmund today only. Will head to Duesseldorf tomorrow AM

Are you driving or taking the trains?

They had a whole pile of snow land on them recently in Germany plus train strikes, so its getting a bit tricky to move around the various cities.

I think snow was in the s/se. Dortmund and Duesseldorf are in the NW.

Taking trains, no problems. The strike was last week, and the unions have promised no strikes for the rest of the year.

Snow was indeed in Bavaria, and we won’t be there this trip

I recommend Maastricht as a city to visit. It’s quite charming.

I also took this pic at the Maastricht Christmas market: a canadian specialties stand with poutine, beaver tails,… they had a separate stand with maple syrup and other items.

We finally overlapped

We are in Tallinn now and the Christmas market is even better than I expected. The old town in Tallinn is very beautiful under a thin film of snow.

We’re heading out to Helsinki via the ferry today but here is another snap that my wife took of the markets.
