Canada <> US

Meanwhile, Justin faces a tougher audience in the House of Commons as his party survives a confidence vote. Non-confidence motions are not a feature of US democracy but an important part of Westminster democracies.

I would say that Congress would get nothing done if the no confidence mechanic were really a thing down here…but that would imply that Congress actually does stuff to begin with.

Sounds good to me… let’s make that happen!

That would be another difference… Canadians expect their MPs and MLAs to pass legislation and complain when they aren’t legislating enough.

Some reasons why our Conservative Party leader is considered to be a bit like Trump.

Thought I was reading the Beaverton for a second.

He does sound like a human-size caricature of Trump.

I wish that was the case rather than the Globe and Mail.

The article is a bit biased making him sound like a fruitcake… Pierre is in some respects a ding dong, but he is very well spoken and speaks confidently. I’m a moderate fiscal conservative and I’d see him as a very strong candidate if I didn’t know he’s a closet socon.

I’ve seen him take a reporter to task, and he clocked them pretty hard. That’s not an easy thing to do.

He’s not trump. He’s more dangerous because he’s as good on stage as.kamala.

I think it’s too late for Trudeau to step aside which is too bad, if Freeland had taken over a year ago she could’ve won

This old photo of Pierre Trudeau paddling across the Ottawa River was in today’s Globe and Mail. Not many politicians today could pull off wearing buckskin.

He’s an internet troll. I don’t know how dangerous the guy is, he’ll probably just get rid of all the climate change stuff like the carbon tax which frankly is one of the most idiotic policies ever. At the end of the day, this is Justin’s fault. He is so bad and doesn’t listen to what Canadians want. We have ads on tv telling us to stop using washing machines because of climate change, as if that makes any difference. And the corruption and waste is ridiculous. They set up a slush fund to combat climate change and it was just to give out gov money to shady companies. At the end of the day, Justin is a bad PM with many scandals, poor results, etc. And he just surrounds himself with his friends who have no experience. It’s really a complete disaster.

I think it’s worse than that. He’s a stealth whatever-they-call-anti LTBTQ. He gets elected, there’s a real danger trans folks start having their Canadian rights restricted.

If it was just stuff like climate change and typical canadian conservative stuff that people argue about, he’d be great But with that anti-trans sentiment hanging out there, he would/could be a very serious problem.

You probably know him more than I do, I couldn’t say. But I know that his adoptive father came out as gay later in his life.

Just got done shopping at Trader Joe’s!!! Now on to Tarzhay!!!

Canadians react to calling a party “communist” differently than Americans do.

Local billionaire Chip Wilson, founder of Lululemon, is like Elon Musk politically. His sign supporting the BC Conservative Party would have hardly raised an eyebrow in the US but has been vilified here by both conservatives and liberals.

‘Selfish billionaire’: Chip Wilson’s mansion vandalized after political sign…

Days after a political sign was erected outside Lululemon founder Chip Wilson’s Vancouver mansion, the waterfront property has been vandalized with graffiti.

The tldr of this, billionaire puts up a big sign calling a political party communist.

Both the left and right parties responded with a statement saying the don’t care if billionaires get their feelings hurt.

And, the police are also investigating the defacement of the sign. I feel like tampering with an election sign is treated somewhat seriously in Canada.

I was doing a roadside cleanup a few years ago and there was a political sign half buried in the ditch. I was going to pull it out, got told to leave it, we don’t touch election signs.
