Quite bizarre. Apparently the shirts never existed - the photo was digitally altered. But everything’s OK because she came out with that old chestnut - “It was only a joke”.

Thanksgiving is going to be uncomfortable. Apparently a relative shared the image which was initially private.

As I’ve noted here before… when i switched from a BC to a Michigan drivers license, after showing the person my Canadian birth certificate, drivers license and passport, we completed all the paperwork and then she asked me if I’d like to register to vote and i asked the woman if she’d noticed all my Canadian ID?

I somehow still ended up on the jury list as I got called for jury duty.

Interesting. It was a Canadian who saved us from a massive thalidomide tragedy.

Kelsey was quite well-known in Canada. Sadly, no Canadian prevented the sale of thalidomide in Canada and there were a lot of affected people.

With friends like the US, Canada does not need enemies.

Reminds me of the WH statement concerning the possibility of a US invasion. We should be grateful that the US is protecting us from “others” but those “others” now include the US!

“The White House says U.S. President Donald Trump has done “more than anyone” to protect Canada from threats, after Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent comments that he has prepared for the unlikely risk of U.S. military action against Canada.

When asked by The Globe and Mail on Thursday about Mr. Carney’s comments, Anna Kelly, principal deputy press secretary at the White House, said he should be grateful for Mr. Trump’s assistance in defending Canada.”

Who are the others that are actively threatening to invade us? The US seems to be the only one.

Similar to the question somebody would ask a protection racket “Why should I pay you money to protect our business? No one’s tried to attack it before”.

Sure would be a shame though…

This gets “promised” here from time to time but when the promising party gets into power with a disproportionate number of seats relative to its percentage of the popular vote it realizes that it is better off with the status quo.

The PQ may well form the next Quebec government with less than 30% of the popular vote: that would persuade them not to change the voting system!

They do this a lot in the UK as well.

They forget about it quickly…as it favours the two larger parties.

The article does note:

This might explain why reform was opposed:

Hope the winner got out of the country OK.

US’s new import prohibition on certain Canadian products creates an issue with getting supplies to Campobello Island (accessible by road from the Canadian mainland only through the US, or via a couple of ferries).
