Arizona Green Tea might be my new low caff beverage of choice. It’s like 1 mg caffeine per oz. So my giant 24 oz can has very little caffeine.
(Trying to decaffeinate yet again after using it to get past time zone shift travelling a while back and getting re hooked)
You gotta do a little less each day until you’re off of it. It’s tough. I’ve given up and just accept that I am now a daily coffee drinker.
I finally got un-hooked a few months ago. Took a couple of weeks of tapering. Now I have a coke maybe once a week and that’s it.
I drank a lot of caffeine for a long time, but ended up cutting back during COVID, I think mostly since going to get a cup of coffee in the breakroom was no longer a thing. I replaced it with other hot teas that are mostly caffeine free, but occasionally I’ll have a chai tea. Too much caffeine now makes me feel jittery and anxious.
I have two cups of coffee in the morning before I gear up for work…fairly small cups, but I also find having a can of soda water after that seems to do just as much as an energy boost in the morning as having more coffee.
I gave it up completely for a month or so and now I can have some here and there if I want. I nearly always limit myself to 1 serving a day.
still at 3-5 diet colas per day. intake in the 150mg-200mg range
Down to 1 a day, unless at a free-refill place. Not turning that down. Shitload of water, though.
If I stopped buying them, I wouldn’t drink them. I think we stopped at some point, wife probably made the decision. But then Coke Zero came out. And then wife found the 12oz plastic bottles, where she could seal them back up for later use (she doesn’t drink a whole 12ozs in one sitting). So, we buy those now.
I rarely drink soda. One standard mug of coffee per day is my usual but will occasionally splurge for a 16 oz at a coffee stand.
I’ve been traveling and jet lagged, which led to a big increase in my morning caffeine consumption. I’ll cut back to a pot of tea with breakfast next week. Then I’ll have to taper off completely so i can fast on Yom Kippur.
I’m working on tapering down for like the hundredth time
ETA didn’t realize I’d posted the exact same picture earlier in this very thread….
On my second one right now. First time in a while that I have had two at home.
(I never have a second Coke Zero at home.)
I’ve been off and on for the last couple of years. I have it figured out so I can taper in a few days if I need to. Otherwise it’s like a couple of times per week that I drink a soda.
I have to quit caffeine and it’s very sad.
Im still at 2-4 diet sodas per day. Usually cile zero or diet pepsi, so thats like 140mg on a steady drip from 930am-330pm.
Caffeine binds to the receptors in the nervous system that otherwise pick up sleep and relaxation related neurotransmitters. I have noticed that as I have focused more on sleep consistency and sleep quality the last two years, that very little happens in the morning with those first few sips of coffee. I still have a few cups of coffee in the morning when I wake up, because I have an espresso machine and like a good coffee. More than two puts me on edge.
I’ve noticed I’m more anxious and a bit more prone to snapping when I’m having 2 cups of coffee a day, so that’s my impetus at the moment. Although I may go to one cup of green tea a day.
Not a fan of anxiety. I wish better decaf coffee existed, because I really like coffee, in particular various single origin coffees and the variations in flavor profiles and all that.
I definitely drink too much caffeine. During busy seasons, probably 2-3 pots of coffee per day, or equivalent. I try to drink just a fraction of that on days off to detox.
I’ve been managing it a little better, though. During my latest January busy season, I began making half-caf coffee often, and always when I made a second/third pot.
I need to get more serious about cutting down, I know.
As much as I love coffee, and drink too much, I know I could stop if I wanted to. My evidence? I came down with pneumonia last week and couldn’t stand the smell let alone the taste of it. No caffeine withdrawal headache.
I have chosen to go back now to coffee but could have easily switched to tea. Others probably find a similar aversion to coffee if they get sick with COVID, a bad cold or the flu.
