Buc-ee’s

Wallys has the jerky bar as well. At this point I’m guessing it’s a copy, but it’s a big country and we all need our road trip stops.

I saw a show one these.bucceee. definitely looked like something i want to see if I’m ever nearby.
Chances of.me. being in Texas though are pretty slim.

it’s a gas station, they’re all pretty much the same. pass.

I haven’t been to Buc-ees, but based on my experiences at QT, that’s just not true. I’ll drive out of my way to go to QT vs many other gas stations.

I was surprised how much I liked my local QT. Previously, gas stations were all pretty much the same.

I told my wife that. They are a perfect stop for an electric charge so they are future proof.

They’re moving north slowly. We will have 2 in Kentucky by next year. On on I-75 and on on I-65. I would say at this point they serve any long trip in TX and any N/S trip through the Southeast (very busy right now with summer beach trips in full swing).

They are building one just north of Denver as well.

The problem I have with Buccee’s is the line. I’ve been to 2. I could get in and out of the bathroom fine, and they are very clean. But the lines for food, retail items, and gas are longer than I want on a road trip. So I have not spent any $ there.

The first one I went to was on a holiday weekend and I just about had a panic attack trying to drive in and out. Not worth it.

I would think they would be great places for electric charging stations. You are probably going to be there for 30-60 minutes regardless of how long you would have spent pumping your gas for your ICE vehicle, so pull up plug in go in, by the time you are done you have a decent amount of charge and don’t feel like you were wasting time sitting around waiting for the car to charge.

Will they have EV charging stations by then?

It is said that they do.
Do all of them? no idea.

Will cross post this to the EV thread.

Nobody goes there - it’s too crowded

Seems more like one of those “divide and conquer” places. Wife and I do this at Costco, as I get gas and she starts inside ahead of me. One time, she took her purse, forgot her phone. Her purse had the keyless fob for the car, so I could not turn the car off without being stuck wherever I was, which would have been at the pump. I also couldn’t call her to bring the key back. Good times…

All the ones I have been to already have several electric charging stations (10-20) and could easily add more since they have a huge parking lot.

STBX did that to me at the airport.

Conversation en route to the airport in his car:
Me: don’t forget to take the key fob off your keychain and leave it in the car.

Him: I won’t.

[20 minutes later]

Me: Did you take the key fob off your keychain?

Him: God, get off my back! I will!!! Geez, you’re such a nag, I can’t stand it.

[15 minutes later after he was inside the terminal]

Him: Why do you keep calling me? I’ve gotten 3 calls from you in the last 5 minutes. I just saw you!

Me: I need the key fob for the car or the cops are going to tow it & I’ll have to Uber home.

Him: Oh, why didn’t you tell me you didn’t have it?

Me: :exploding_head:

Is there a find my key fob app so it makes a sound?

That’s right about my limit where I’d just leave the car and call an Uber.

The beef jerky is great, the chips are good, the BBQ is meh. Traffic in and out is a nightmare.

7/10, would stop again for the jerky.
