By the way, look at the bizarre way I lost 7 imps on board 1. I thought my bid was near automatic, give partner a chance to show 4 spades or settle in 3NT. (The risk, I thought, was that partner might not bid 3NT without 4 spades and with only the heart jack.) CHO’s pass of their suit in an explicitly forcing auction. Unbelievable.
(Some others just bid 3NT in this situation. Perhaps they felt partner would have bid 2S if he had 4.)

I don’t see any results for the latest regular group challenge. Either I didn’t issue it or didn’t complete it (maybe didn’t start it). If it happened and anyone completed it, they can see the results I think.

Had a good tourney in Omaha this weekend:
5th out of 48 pairs (10.48)
7th out of 63 pairs (8.16)
1st out of 6 teams round robin (22.59)
2nd out of 17 swiss teams (12.60)
We beat two pro teams in the swiss and barely lost to the third. I won 12 IMPs on this hand in the first round when I brought home 3NT and Billy Miller’s client did not. To be fair it was the other direction for him and I imagine he got a spade lead so the start was likely more advantageous to me. My auction was 1D by north, 2NT by me, 3NT by north.

The lead was a 4th best diamond. It looked low from an honor but I won in dummy to take the club finesse. RHO won the third club (I pitched a diamond and a heart) and shifted to spades. I ducked two rounds, winning the third in dummy. Back to plan A: I crossed to the king of hearts and took the diamond finesse. LHO won the fourth diamond but had only hearts left and when the jack held I was +600.
Bummer. Completed the 2 way against procrastinator, but he didn’t start it. Finished only 8 boards against AA (but was in the process of claiming a slam making in that match when time expired. Perhaps I didn’t have the only line to make it, but as I had played I was going to make it, where quite possibly he went down unless clubs were 3-3, and possibly he hadn’t bid it. CHO blasted to it at my table.) Didn’t start the match against NN.
Vs AA and NN reissued. Vs procrastinator to be reissued tomorrow.
