They are hoping for a response in 3-4 weeks, so I expect to submit around April 14, maybe earlier if we have clear leaders
My guesses to the set in the email:
A. 4H
B. 3D
C. 2N
D. 4D
E. 2N
F. pass
G. 3N
H. heart queen
My guesses to the set posted here:
A. 3S
B. 4C
C. 5C
D. 2N
E. 3S
F. pass
G. pass
H. spade 4
A) 4S
B) Pass
C) 5C
D) 3N
E) 3S
F) 4H
G) Pass
H) Spade 4
A. 3S. At first I thought 4S, and that’s still my second choice, but partner should play me for some values and the HK may well be worthless.
B. 4C. Not going to consider 3NT with those diamonds. If partner passes, OK, but maybe he’ll try 4S.
C. 3H. 6 trumps, the diamond ace and a void should be enough. But second choice is only 3C. If partner doesn’t bid game over 3H, I’ll trust his judgment.
D. 2NT. It’s imps, but not vul, so I’m not going to insist on game. I think this is a slightly better description than 3D.
E. 3N. Was tempted to rebid the hearts, but not sure what is forcing and whether partner promises a rebid over 3H.
F. P. Hate to pass with so much, vul at imps, but hate the spades for 2S and hate the diamonds for 2NT. If I bid, I would go with 2NT.
G. P. Likely best if we don’t have a game. If the only question were whether we had a game, I think it would be worth betting we do, but since this could be best when game makes I’ll go with it.
H. DQ. Since it’s matchpoints. And since it’s a bidding contest. With a human partner, I would likely just lead his suit.
A) 4S is a stretch, but 3S could be an Ace and King less. Sometimes pre-empts work.
B) Trying to go plus on a misfit.
C) My problem with three hearts is that this isn’t an invitational plus club raise.
D) Maybe 3N is too much. If we bid 2 how will he know when to go on?
E) I guess 3NT shows the spade control and says nothing about clubs. It is probably right.
F) Aces are undervalued by standard point count especially if there are trumps. 4 quick tricks suggests we bid game.
G) Agree with Pass
H) DQ is the right lead … I picked it first and talked myself out of it.

Finally a leader, on one problem. Passing a takeout double. Not usually a winning action at the table, but this may well be a hand for it.

A. 3NT. Will regret this if pd stretched with limited high cards due to a heart void, but if he has a singleton (or especially a doubleton), think this may play better. Should be able to limit the communication between the opps. Plus, I don’t know whether to bid 3 or 4 if I pick spades.
B. 4 clubs. Hand is quite good in context so scary to make a call I am not sure is forcing, but don’t want to go past 4S in case partner can bid that.
C. 3 clubs. Nothing else really appeals.
D. 3 diamonds. It is ok to have a maximum from time to time.
E. 3NT. Close, could be convinced 3H is better.
F. 2NT. Another close one, also considered pass.
G. 2NT.
H. Spade 4. Second choice is a diamond. Do not have a good track record leading singletons even in pd’s suit.
A) 3S. I may regret not bidding 3NT.
B) 5C. I have to come alive!
C) 3H. I wonder what 4C would show?
D) 3D. Light on spot cards so I’m pulling in the reins. Maybe I should bid 3NT.
E) 3NT. If I bid 3H we’re never reaching 3NT.
F) 2NT. feels right on points, albeit without a diamond stop…
G) 2NT. Shows 12-13 in my world. Pass could be right.
H) DQ. A straight guess.
On H) DQ is what I would like to change my vote to.
