My kindergartner will be a first grader after tomorrow. His teacher put his report card online tonight and says he is reading at an advanced first grade/second grade level. Focus and attention don’t always come easily for him, but he did his best this year and I’m so proud of him I may actually cry tomorrow when he gets out.
My third grader went from being behind last year (ADHD newly diagnosed at the time) to one of the best readers in his class. He has made such incredible progress and has always been willing to keep at it. His teachers and classmates always tell us what a great and kind friend he is.
And I’m super proud of my husband for being a trooper this year. He could have phoned it in, but he kept at it even when it was miserable.
Little Vash in her never-ending quest to end all chess games diplomatically, told me that she (a pawn) had mystical writing across her left-arm, that when translated foretold that the electricity would return when the war was ended.
This was fairly convincing to the king, who missed lighting, heating, and computers.
So then she added, that her right-arm had mystical writing on it too, which said, if you want to stop the electricity, then start a war.
I’m very proud that small SV is already becoming a devastating prophet.
My son is turning six tomorrow, and got one of his presents today. He just came up to me and told me, “Mom I love my ventriloquist dummy so much but do you know what the best birthday present of all is? You.”
It made me cry. He’s a dear.
My daughter (9) told me her two favorite classes are math and PE. Mine too, kid, mine too.
19 yo just announced that she “GOT THE LEAD IN THE CINDERELLA OPERA!!!”
Congratulations!!!
Mini-me signed the papers on Friday that confirms both that he’s going to start his PhD later this year AND get paid.
I think the two of us are happy for different reasons though.
Which one – La Cerentola or Cendrillon?
See that’s the difference between you and me. My first question was, is she playing the prince or one of the dwarves?
The difference is she understand what the word “lead” means?
That’s the stuff that makes dried paint taste funny, and affects short term memory.
That plus a couple other words she posted. And probably that there’s no dwarves.

Cendrillon
Kiddo spelled her name randomly the other day. Neither my wife nor I knew she could. Happy for the ability. Sad for the realization that our working lives will lead to several such moments. Encouraged to keep challenging her beyond what we know she can do today.
Cool that you’re raising your own little RNLG.
eh?
