My son is such a nice guy. Tall, big, happy, and empathic.
Last night his gf posted on Instagram something about hope his mother knows that she raised a son who knows how to treat and respect his gf.
Also last night a friend said that one of their friends was asking about him wrt to their daughter. The mother’s in the 'hood are thirsting for him for their daughters lol.
My grandson just got notice of early admission to one of the toughest university science programs in Canada to get into. Was very surprised their admissions office was even open on Christmas Eve.
He is over the moon as it was the only school he wanted to attend. There will be some celebrating around the Xmas dinner table tomorrow. So proud of him. He is a smart kid but also has worked hard.
UBC. His plan is to do science as an undergraduate and then medicine. Their program is comparable to U of T or McGill’s programs. He also applied to UVic as a backup in case he couldn’t get into UBC.
22 yo sang “Oh, Holy Night” at tonight’s Christmas Eve service. She nailed it. Inquire via PM if you’d like to hear it…it’s not a great recording, production-wise, but it’s passable.
22 yo sang “Gesù bambino” at yesterday’s Christmas Day service. She nailed it…except her last note started out a little sour. Inquire via PM if you’d like to hear it.
24 yo has been accepted into a medical school. She’s hoping to get positive responses from other schools before making her final decision on where to attend.
This is a great accomplishment as I assume it is similar to Canada where getting into a medical school is ridiculously difficulty. Nice that she may even be able to pick and choose.
Our school is hosting a spelling bee (pre-pre-pre-qualifier+ for the national spelling bee), and the top 3 spellers from each grade get to participate. My son made it for the fourth grade!
Sadly, I don’t think he will be interested in participating. He has pretty bad stage fright/anxiety, and also one of his tics is repeating sounds while he is thinking, which would not work out well for him in a verbal bee (the initial test was written; he is a great speller when he writes out words). I fear it may crush his spirit more than uplift it, but we will discuss it with him and support whatever decision he makes.
So awesome. I got to participate in a city spelling bee once after winning at my school. Sadly, I was out on my second word I think. “Petard” was a word I’d never heard as a 6th grader. It follows the rules but I wrongly assumed that it wouldn’t.
Even if he doesn’t participate, the honor is pretty cool.
