Gold also has a number of industrial uses, plus people like their gold jewelry, not just as a store of value, but also as a fashion accessory.
That true much easier to wear a gold chain than a block chain.

One of my coops was telling me how their mother loves to invest in gold.
I told her that if she’d have invested $10,000 in gold 10 years ago then today she’d have…$10,000.
My MIL mostly buys CDs. She got kind of burned by a sales rep who put her (small) IRA into funds with high expenses and it hasn’t performed well, and she thinks CDs are a better bet than equities now.
I tried showing her my 10Y returns using my highbrow strategy of buying S&P index funds but she was completely nonplussed.
My point was not that gold is a particularly good investment, but that there are reasons to believe there will be demand for it in the future, beyond that self-reinforcing belief itself.
yeah I know. I wandered off topic.
She have any old Van Halen CDs? I could be willing to buy some, and perhaps help out her ROI.

I inherited my dad’s 8 track collection in the 1990s, and the 8 track player to go with it. Sadly, the ribbons all broke very quickly.
I have fond memories of messing with 8 tracks in his pickup in the 80s. Mostly old country songs.
When my dad died, all the 8 tracks were long gone. I did get his CB radio though. I will still bring it out on long road trips sometimes. There are still some truckers using them.

It is the end of Crypto as at March 2023
The US Govt is now going after Binance.
Once Binance collapses (just a matter of time as people will take out their money from it), the chain reaction will wipe out most crypto exchanges.
The remaining ones will go back to what crypto used to be used for: hiding illicit transactions.
