Biden's vaccine employment requirement

Sorry, mG, but it’s the refusal to answer that reflects on the biases of the the refuser, not the other way around.

How? That statement makes no sense.

I mean, if ask me: if pigs could fly would you eat pork? How I am supposed to answer that?

And as is often the case, your response dodges saying anything substantive at all.

You’re learning. That’s good.

Sure.

Now, back to my question. Super-high crime area. Think we ought to let police conduct warrantless searches to reduce the crime? We’ve got rock-solid research that says this will work, and by rock solid, I mean guaranteed. Also, the police will not be assaulting anyone, they’ll just be conducting the searches and making arrests in a gentle way, everyone gets a trial with lawyers and all that. And this is a one time thing.

You still have responded to my original comment.

You also never addressed my last comment.

Again you have said nothing substantive.

When do you think those rights should be suspended if ever?

And, you forgot what you learned.

I’m not the person saying there are times rights should be suspended.

I thought this was a thread about COVID vaccinations?

It is.

I don’t understand why your keep saying “warrantless”. Why on earth are there not warrants issues for these searches. Are you just trying to say, “vaccine mandates are unconstitutional”? Because we have something like a hundred years of case law saying they are constitutional.

And “warrantless searches” sounds random. Like, we’re just sending people out with blowguns to shoot vaccine into anyone. But both are absurd.

Ah, here’s the issue. You really do think it’s unconstitutional, and a violation of people’s rights, to require vaccination to engage in certain public actions. Again, case law says you are wrong.

You probably needed a measles vaccine to go to school. You probably had a vaccine passport to prove it, too.

Because a search with a warrant is clearly constitutional.

Because we’ve lost patience with everything going on with that area of town. Normally we’d get warrants, but there’s just too much to do over there and not enough time to do it in.

No, I’m trying to draw a parallel.

That’s to be determined.

It’s to be determined whether there’s decades of case law supporting vaccine mandates? No it’s not, that’s a simple matter of fact.

Will this particular mandate pass muster? I dunno. It’s got some details that are dicey. Which (as I’ve said several time) is why I am not a fan of it.

But are there vaccine mandates that are constitutional? Can your state require vaccination to go to school? Can a business require its employees be vaccinated? Can a cruise ship require proof of vaccination as a condition of service? Unless the current court is way more willing to change the law than I expect, yes, those are all constitutional.

So, we’ll wait and see if Biden’s action is constitutional. And we’ll also wait and see if the governor of Florida has the power to compel cruise companies to accept unvaccinated guests. (or, more likely, to find another place to take on passengers.)

Why aren’t they increasing police patrols?

If that’s not what you’re trying to do, why is this hypothetical scenario in this thread?

Sounds like something that was probably on Tucker a few nights ago.

They don’t want their medical / life / disability insurance premiums to go up unnecessarily?

Or deal with the absenteeism associated with long Covid?

That would be the justifications I can think of.

I WFH and today my employer announced a mandate. Get vaxxed by Nov 1 or you will be terminated. The rationale given was that we do still meet in person, and it’s the right thing to do since we are a public health company. There were some smaller points but I may have been multi-tasking a bit. I’m already vaxxed so I wasn’t paying 100% attention.

My employer initially promised not to require vaccination. I’m curious if they’ll wait for the court battles or just require vaccination.

Mine has acknowledged the mandate but hasn’t announced its approach yet. I have a feeling they will bend over backwards to provide testing for associates.

My company caters to farmers and nascar enthusiasts and country music fans. Your average irrationally angry white dude. I don’t think this is where they decide to take any kind of stance. I’ll be happy to be proven wrong.
