The dress would be a particularly petty thing to complain about it, so it will probably happen.
This is the earliest I’ve ever seen a POTUS sworn in. Are they like 12 minutes ahead of schedule or was this planned?
Usually the VPOTUS is sworn in around 11:55 and the POTUS around 12:02.
No Amy (and John Roberts) he’s not POTUS yet. Trump still has 8 minutes.
I’m beginning to think they planned on swearing him in unusually early so that the whole thing can end early and they can get right to work signing executive orders, selecting new Senate leadership and confirming cabinet appointments. With an impeachment trial looming the Senate has even more on their plate than is typical.
I think that without the usual fanfare that’s associated with the POTUS procession . . . they got there early.
And you’d look fairly foolish just sitting there, waiting, with all of those media cameras lurking around.
Klobuchar looked genuinely happy. More than she did when she was running. I wonder how much she really wanted the job and how much she was running because she thought she could win for the Democrats.
Bernie did not look happy. He didn’t look miserable or anything, but i would have described his expression as more pensive than happy.
(yes, i took off a half day from work to watch.)
I’m not sure I agree with your cause and effect. Running a Presidential campaign is both stressful and physically exhausting. Today she can relax and enjoy the ceremony.
I certainly hope that we see her in another Presidential primary.
oh, i didn’t realize we had a thread for this. my posts were misplaced.
my default is to look at unread rather than new threads, so i missed it.
yeah, amy is happy. she actually said to not consider her for the VP spot at all because she thought a woman of color should be picked. i think she is okay with this.
i wouldn’t expect bernie to be happy. probably happy to be rid of trump, but he thought he should be president and now he pretty much never will be.
Maybe Jan 6th was just a ploy to ensure that Biden’s inauguration crowd would be smaller than Trump’s…
True, but Bernie is also one of those people that seems to have a resting frown face.
well yes
I certainly wouldn’t expect them to sit around and wait. There’s no actual need to wait until noon. They just usually do.
That said, I suspect you are right in that they were merely running ahead of schedule.
All that is true. And that’s probably why Hillary looked happy. But Klobuchar looked truly delighted. Just beaming with joy. Like a parent at a graduation.
not sure if you watch msnbc, but they have amy on there a lot, and she has been extremely pro biden/harris throughout this. she has been one of their biggest cheerleaders.
That’s good. Were any of Biden’s picks pre-confirmed?
Garth Brooks has joined the “dark side,” according to his Republican fans. Maybe they should call him Darth?
I don’t really watch TV. I am watching PBS News right now, because I wanted to see the inauguration, and that was the first channel I came to that had it. But my TV mostly exists to watch Netflix and play video games. I haven’t had cable in decades.
But I’m not surprised to see that Klobuchar has been pro Biden for a while.
