Bad sitcoms I watch

Been on a bad sitcom kick lately. This thread is for me to bore you witht he ones I watch.

I already mentioned The Michel Richards Show and Bob Patterson in other threads.

I decided to concentrate them here.

I watche the single episode available of “The Grubbs”. It’s Michael Cera’s debut in a series. It also has Randy Quaid and Carol King.

Terrible.

Mulaney.

In the mid-teens John Mulaney got a sitcom. It is semi-autobiographical, starring John as an up-and-coming comedian and his life in NYC. Each episode starts with John doing a bit from his standup. And throughout the shows, many of his bits show up as contrivances of the plot.

For example, in his standup, he does a bit about lying to a doctor in order to get a prescription for Zanax. In the pilot episode it’s acted out in a scene, nearly word for word. (It’s kinda like the Peanuts movies where often, comic strips make their way into the plots).

I like Mulaney’s standup, and his writing was OK on SNL. But he is a terrrible actor. His co-stars don’t look like they want to be there. martin Short may be the best thing about the show. Not that he is good, but he’s just much better than everyone else.

Sounds very familiar.
Was the show about nothing?

I cannot watch bad sitcoms. So much more to watch and I don’t have as much time left (just older, not sick or dying; just want to use it wisely).

Mulaney also does (or has done) a shitty talk show.

Norm MacDonald’s talk show (on Netflix, I think) is pretty funny.

Hip_tiger_wife loves old TV series, so I watch with her.

Hart to Hart purports to be a murder mystery show, but comes off like a sitcom.

Burke’s Law - likewise

I was going to also mentioned that it’s a blatant copying of the basic premise of Seinfeld. Including the opening ‘monologues’ of the protagonist being a bit from his routine.

You have to try Cop Rock. Also the Dana Carvey Show.
