Atomic Habits

Thread to discuss the book by James Clear and any personal applications from it. I believe it was first published in 2018 but was one of the top 10 books sold (in the US?) last year.

Here are a few questions to start the discussion but feel free to branch out (you will anyway).

  1. What did the author get right?
  2. What did the author get wrong?
  3. Have you tried his method? If so, share your experience.

Mine:

  1. I loved the idea of tying a habit you want to start to your identity. Several years ago I wanted to get back to my childhood identity of being a reader. And without thinking about it much, that happened. The increasing availability of free (library) or low cost audiobooks helped me succeed.

  2. I’m struggling with the “shaping my home” idea. Just don’t have any spot in my home that’s truly mine, except my desk & that’s mostly for work.

  3. Not yet but I’m thinking about it.

How about a “Reader’s Digest” version? Just wondering what the hell this is and whether I do these “methods” already.

OK, just read this summary:

Yeah, I follow this strategy for some things.
