Geminid meteor shower is underway now, but the peak will be the night of 12.13.
The Best Meteor Shower of the Year Is Coming—Here’s How to Watch | WIRED?
Blood moon tomorrow AM
… and forecast of 100% cloud cover tomorrow morning. :sigh:
I’ll try to wake up for this. How to do that without waking up my wife will be difficult. Might sleep in another room or on the recliner.
They said something about east coasters would be able to see something real special as the moon will be setting at just about the same time the sun is rising. Further west it will be over before the sun rises. Darn.
Missed it. Completely forgot. Oh, well, there are pics online. Another one in a few years.
I happened to wake up last night at 3:03am. Went out to take a look and it was pretty cool. I think I just missed totality. Moon was super-red.
Driving last night at dusk, saw one of the tiniest slivers of moon ever (for me). I’m always intrigued at just how thin a moon sliver is possible to be seen.
This was around 7:30PM my time. According to the internets, New Moon was 9:24PM EST, so subtract 3 hours, then add one hour. So, about a one-day sliver. I think I can do better than that.
Next month, New Moon occurs on 3/27 at 7:52AM EST. So 5:52AM PDT.
That will be about 14 hours afterward at dusk.
