Forecast here is for clouds. Will probably get up anyways just to make sure nothing is visible.

The moon will be directly above my local college’s hillside emblem from my home - If the sky clears I will snap a picture of it (around 8:00 PM EST)

Lunar Eclipse looking good! :+1:

Really cool glow when it got fully covered!

Cool red moon this AM at my 3:14 am on 3/14

I couldn’t get my iPhone to get better than this It was straight up and I couldn’t hold still in that contorted way for too long.

I was late and it was pretty cloud covered. I took a couple pictures and could see the glow and you could tell it was a crescent rather than fully round like a full moon should be.

Progressed a lot slower than the solar eclipse. Brightness of remaining parts overwhelmed camera sensors so pics seemed to overestimate portion not in shadow. Still saw a slightly brighter rim in totality than I expected. Wonder if earth moon distance was higher than average. Haven’t checked.

It amazes me what the James Webb telescope can detect at a distance of 124 light years.

A transient luminous event photographed from the ISS. Or if you prefer, what thunderstorms can look like from above.

A few clickbait sources are describing this as “life found on Mars.”. It’s not quite that, but…

Unfortunately won’t get real confirmation until after the retrieval mission, which keeps having its funding cut.

I want a new Trump, but he just spends lots on space exploration

Is that C-3PO’s arm???

If it were pitched as sending Elmo there to check it out, on scene, I imagine that we could pass a hat and collect sufficient funds to make that happen.

I’ve seen this movie

In case you don’t like yahoo and want to read the scientific literature: [2509.12351] Space Mission Options for Reconnaissance and Mitigation of Asteroid 2024 YR4

I think it was Neil DeGrasse Tyson who had an interesting youtube video about options. One interesting one was a big tungsten nail in space and then the meteor hits it and breaks up into a cloud of smaller debris that can break up in the atmosphere

Leonid meteor shower peaks today/tomorrow. Get out there if you have clear skies
