I do now. I’ve been thinking of switching for some time, and this crap service has me looking again
I made the jump from Xfinity to a fiber provider a couple of months ago.
Connectivity has been better, cost is lower, and the fiber customer service is reportedly MUCH better than Xfinity’s…although on that last point, I haven’t seen it given that service wasn’t installed until 7 months after the initial order was put in, and I’m procrastinating on making a call this morning to get a $5/month charge for something that doesn’t apply to me removed.
I should have jumped earlier, but my house is on a flag lot, and I anticipated installation challenges. I was proven correct on that account, but they (surprisingly) didn’t charge me anything for their headaches.
Had to google this, TIL.

I do admit I’m not very good at getting birthday gifts. I always know when dates are coming, I’m just not a party planner kind of guy. I still owe my son doing “something” for his 18th birthday, which was back in early May.

Update - an army of about 25 workers have been making some pretty impressive progress - it was annoying to hear them working right outside my house, but you could hardly tell they came though.
- Waiting for a brewery to open. Effing at 3pm! In a vacation area!! We’ve seen the ocean and the lighthouse. Time to drink ffs!!!
- So we wait. About 50 feet from us is an Applebee’s. Behind us there are at least 10 locally(?) owned restaurants in walking distance. Because we’ve already walked around because we are VERY early for the brewery. Pics later.
So, sitting at a three-way stop for four ways, because the one non-stop way is right off a main road. Just amazing how many non-stop vehicles stop, and how many stopped cars just go.
Damn, I picked the wrong week to stop drinking…
I am so overwhelmingly exhausted, thanks to jet lag. Prior to maybe 35, jet lag wasn’t even a thing I had to worry about. Now it’s practically a qualified life event.

What an annoyance. Through the years I’ve probably bought 3 book scanners and sold all of them eventually becuase I’m for sure done forever scanning books.
AAAAnyways…bought a book scanner off marketplace a day or so ago. Plug it in, spend a couple hours diagnosing, it doesn’t work. Claude finally says maybe it’s power. So I drive into the city today and get a powered USB hub. Plug it in and…there it is.
Except the software only runs on windows and I’m running linus. So now I’ve spent the better part of today trying to get the scanner to go right from the hardware right into the windows vm. And not having much luck. Sigh. I used to like these computer challenges. Not anymore. Just want stuff to work. I don’t need an education.

On a plane. Pushed back from the gate. Waiting. Pilot makes an announcement: “Ah, we are having a problem with steering. We’re going to have to head back to the gate to get this checked out.”
Twenty minutes later the update comes: “Ah, we just found out that the person who can drive the tow to get us back to the gate is on his way, he’ll be here in 15 to 20 minutes. Then we can get you all back and we’ll deplane.”
20 minutes later and still not moving. 
Everybody gonna miss connections.

Driving down The 95 in CT, noticed that the exit numbers don’t line up with the mile markers. Every other state I’ve driven through have made the change.

CT is only renumbering their exits because the feds commanded them to do so.
The feds didn’t offer to pay for the change, however. So the changeover is going very slowly, mostly in conjunction with routine sign replacements.
I-95 is due to be changed in 2028…and south of New Haven, the numbers won’t change very much because I-95 has an exit about every mile. There’s been some speculation that the state still might fudge the numbers south of New Haven, because of the risk of confusion.
Also, that date might slip, as they seem to be behind schedule with the first of the big interstate changes – I-84 is supposed to change this year. I know the contract to do that has been put out for bids, but I don’t recall seeing whether it’s been finalized.
(I’m surprised that renumbering of the Meritt Parkway wasn’t blocked by lawsuits, like every other proposal to make changes there.)
